themes... i am lost

ok so i am new to the droid.. well i bought in the day it came out but i am soooo scared of the themes there are a ton to choose from.... whos the best.... how do they work..... please help i just feel like a deer in the head lights when it comes to themes.... i feel like i really need to be walked through this lol

You need to choose and download a home replacement first.

aHome, PandaHome, OpenHome, Freshface, GDE, DxTop etc

Once installed you can then choose a theme.

It's all very simple actually.

I will offer what I did and others can chime in on their set-up. It's all just a matter of personal preference.

My set up is I use PandaHome New (free) and installed an aHome theme (free)

It's been very stable for me. No lag, force closes, hiccups.

I like PandaHome New because #1 it's free and I want to wait for the paid ones to work some of the small bugs out. With Panda you can use aHome and Openhome themes on it. So there is a lot of choices. The other home replacements can use the other themes as well but again I will wait for the other home replacements, particularly GDE, to work out the bugs.

yes that did help!!! I think i am going to be brave and give it a try in the am... just nervous about paying but i think i will try panda and go from there.... i love that i can do so much with the droid i just dunno where to start!!! lol

I just bought QDE last night and it lags terribly. How do I get the refund?

^^ Go to the market and find the app (either search or go to MENU=>DOWNLOADS). From there you will have an option to "Uninstall and Refund" if you're within the 24 hr period. If not it will just say UNINSTALL.

Note - certain themes (especially themes) and widgets don't play nice with certain home screen apps. It's just how it is with open source. It's across the board with all the home screens, I've tried them all and found widgets to crash all of them. I recommend incrementally adding things to your home screen to minimize the possibility of loading a problem app, it makes it easier than adding 40 things then finding out your phone's slow, then trying to find the bad app. Also, if you find a good developer, check out their other work, chances are they have good programming practices.
