Abandoning MetaMorph. Not sure where to go from here...

I am abondoning the use of MetaMorph. Its useless. It never works, and keeps doing strange things, but never what it is supposed to. 1.9.8.5, or v1.8.5. Both are doing the same thing. I cant do the update.zip method, because I dont know how, so I guess when I make a theme, its going to be a bunch of files in a zip file.

Cant use update.zip or MM, so I dont know what to do now.

I hear ya. MM has made a turn for the worse. Always making changes and screwing up themes that I have to recreate every time. Changes to folder structure...etc.

i've stopped making themed stuff until something better comes along or MM gets its act together.

In the mean time, I use 7Zip to make changes I want to the .apks manually.

I can change the files and everything in the apk, by renaming it to .zip and editing, then changing it back to .apk.

How do I push it back to my phone so it works right, and what permissions does it have to have to work right?

Take any update.zip open it with 7zip. Remove the apps and everything you don't need. Then put your theme apps in thr app folder. The framework-res in the framework folder.

As for editing .apks, iwould use 7zip to open them as well. No need to change extentions

if I use the StockThemePart.zip from the BBv1.1 post, does it contain all the images that the stock ROM has, so I can just modify them all from there, without searching for files that might be missing?

I've gone back to the older version of mm as I've saved a lot of the older themes that work with the 2.1 roms. All I read about is headaches with the new one and where is the dev?

He is working on a new theming app called ninja morph that lets you theme the phone from the phone. Only img files are needed you can change anything with it. Haven't sed it myself but I hear it works well.

I just find that you have to install the older one as well as the newer one and use both depending who used what to make the file your want to install.

I think I am just going to go with the update.zip idea. Much cleaner and easier for everyone. MetaNinjaMorph.whatever.CraniumPoop.headache.mud-butt.apk is too much of a hassle. lol Time for a positive change!
