I have the same issue. It gets stuck on framework-res.apk. I closed all the apps and still no go. Then again, I am using ADW so I don't know if its just me.

i dont think it would be ADW... this is an interesting issue
what rom/version are you running? have you applied a theme previously? anymods? OC kernel?
what exactly happens, can you quit MM when it hangs? if you reboot after that do you get stuck on the M?
are you willing to send me your nandroid backup? that is if you dont have any sensitive data
i have applied this theme soo many times and not once have i gotten it to hang

I'll try the USB Debugging thing later and let you know the results.

WTH? I turned on USB Debugging and it worked...wtf?
Anyways, here were the answeres to your question:
BBv1.0 Smoked Glass theme; I applied the Licorice icons after I manually converted the .thm to .xml as well as a round battery icon. Both were applied via Metamorph; I am using a P3Droid's 1 GHz kernel.
I chose the framework-res in xml, it gives me the popup warning, I say continue, and then it would just say "Installing yada yada..." and it would stay that way. I was able to still go to the homescreen and kill Metamorph that way. If I reboot, I did not get stuck on the M.
However, I did manage to get it to work just by turning on USB Debugging. I just wish someone explained this one to me.
Yeah, I don't see how it could make a difference either, but I'm going to try very shortly.
EDIT: Well, it seems to work so, YAY!
