Themes Section Suggestions

Guys provide your input on this. I feel this area needs some organization, sub categories, something.

Some ideas I have and have seen others express are as follows. A sub section for themes made for 2.01 and 2.1. So from there I would like to see a sub under that of the roms that they work for. An example would be as follows. Droid Themes>2.1>Bugless Beast.

Another suggestion would be to have a sub of Metamorph themes and one for update.zips. Then misc.

These are just my thoughts and would like to see more great threads and themes get more spot light.

We are ALWAYS open for suggestions..Me and dandroid were just talking about this very thing and we were scratching our heads : )

So I will report this thread and lets see what everyone can come up with.

I agree totally with Thebowers

I think that would make it much easier around here to find things. Thats why I tried to gether so much in the one string I made to put all the piices done seperately for people in need to find them. None of the complete themes are left alone. Everyone like to personalize things a bit which I totally agree with.

I agree, I have already made a suggestion in the Mod area about creating subforums for Customer Themers similar to the Custom Rom Sections. Not sure if having different sections for 2.01 etc is worth it as it is old technology and with 2.2 on the horizon surely everyone will stop using 2.01 ROMs....at least I would think so.

Maybe just a breakdown of MetaMorph and Update Zip themes??? Not really sure, but it is nice to have a thread to bounce around ideas.

If you don't mind my two cents, one of the biggest issues I've seen is the lack of a central repository for these themes. What I mean is, why isn't there a gallery for completed themes, along with what versions they're compatible with, whether they are update.zips or MM, and a link to the thread for specific help with that theme? I understand it'll be a lot harder than the gallery for the wallpaper, but making it easier for people to preview and sort through themes would make it substantially beneficial, especially since older themes won't get lost or forgotten because it is on page 10.

I agree, we should have 3 subforums, 2.0 compatible, and 2.1 compatible and one that's compatible with both. Within each there should be 2 more subforums for MM and update.zip.

I was thinking of something like this....if we are going to do it might as well do it all including the Live Wallpapers.

Seriously there is usually a discussion in the Mod/Beta Team/Rescue Squads areas when someone requests a specific area like that.

Not only does their work need to stand out, but IMHO how they represent themselves here and treat others here has a lot to do with it...I guess that keeps me off the list! Also there need to be some sort of longevity in the community here at DF, doesn't make sense to create a section for someone that is here today and literally gone tomorrow..of course these are just my opinions. The higher ups will make all those big decisions!

BUT, I did just get the OK for the changes and to present a format for the new areas to be created.

Any feedback would be appreciated as we are doing this for you guys. I am sure we won't get it right in the beginning and we can fine tune it as we go.
