help or request for custom launcher drawer

hello all,

I recently asked for your help to guide me through the creation of a custom Helix Launcher. Thanks to you guys I was able to create it!

NEW!!!
I just finished another one!!! Its a Helix launcher that contains a small New York Yankees baseball. Install the same way. ENJOY!!!



----INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION----

1. Download and install InvisibleHelix.zip
2. Make sure you have a file manager such as ASTRO installed on your phone
3. Uninstall any other versions of the Helix launcher you have to ensure you have a trouble free installation.
Also, I went for the launcher.apk to my version so i suggest installing a form of the regular launcher and then this one so that you have 2 launchers when you hit the "soft" home button after installing the custom one.
4. Mount your SD card after connecting your phone to your PC
5. Transfer InvisibleHelix.zip to your phone (where ever you like)
6. RENAME file extension from .ZIP to .APK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7. Install via ASTRO or similar program just as you would any other program on your phone
8. Delete other launcher that you used to install this version
9. ENJOY!!!

Yes, this can be done fairly easily. Do you what it gone even when you press it or delete something? The files in located in com.helixproject.launcher.apk/res/drawable-hdpi . In order for this to work right you will need to move this .apk to system/app. If you want me to make a MM for you I can but it will be later tomorrow night.

I was running cyanogen for a while, and am now running UltimateDroidv9.0.0. I have been looking for a way to get rid of the "black droid" drawer icon as well. Except I would just like to have the squares back for the drawer icon.
I can not figure this out. Can someone help me?

try to get a different launcher installed so that you have two. verify this after the install by hitting the soft key "home" then remove the helix launcher that you had and simply go get the one from the market. that way the files are no longer interfering. Give that a shot.

I was told that i could take the .apk (im assuming from the system/app directory) rename it .zip and edit it but i cant seem to figure out how to open the one file with an editor. I end up making a copy of the .apk then extracting the copy editing the pics and then insterting the edited pics into the other .apk that was only renamed to a .zip. When i try to install it with astro i cant install it. I dont get it? is it because I replaced files in the one that WASNT extracted with ones the WERE extracted?

This may take a while for me to understand so if someone can walk me through the trouble through Gmail or GoogleTalk i will post my steps that I took and my new .APK so that all can see and benifit from it.

I AM GETTING CLOSER!!! I fond out that i have to delete the META-INF file and resign the app to get it to work!!! now i was able to reinstall my custom launcher.

BUT i deleted the pic of the little droid guy and now i get a white square. how do i make the whole thing transparent?

WOOT! Glad i could help out man.

check out my custom helix. It is the exact same as the helix one except there is now NO icon on the drawer. It is invisible!!!
