Pulldown Editor 1.1 for Motorola Droid

Hey everyone! This is a easy way to change the "Verizon Wireless" text in your Notification panel to any thing you want it to say. You must have MetaMorph installed from the Market.

This was done by CamperDave on AllDroid.org so all the credit goes to him.

Hey everyone! Some of you may have seen this thread, which describes how to change the "Verizon Wireless" banner on the Droid to anything the user likes, as long as it's 16 characters or less.

That method's fine and good, but it requires pulling files off the Droid, extracting all of framework-res, and hex editing a file by hand, not to mention re-assembling everything back in order.

Since that's kind of a pain for newer users, I wrote this app, which allows you to just type in what you'd like that banner to say. It then automatically generates a MetaMorph theme called "Pulldown Editor" which the user can simply click inside MetaMorph. One reset later, and they have their text all set up, without ever requiring a single command prompt or hex editor.

Now, like any other theme, I take no responsibility if you manage to brick your device with this, yada yada yada. Make a nice nandroid backup before you play with this, and you'll be fine.

Since .apk's aren't allowed as attachments, rename it from *.zip to *.apk, and install!

I did it this morning. Worked great for me. Now if someone steals my phone they will have my name in the notification menu and probably not know how to get it off.

That would be funny.. well maybe not. Getting a Droid stolen would suck. To bad you could not remote in to change the text hahaha. So if it got stolen you could make it say all kinds of nice things

Can you PM me? I know your script basically edits the eri.xml file. I have an idea that I could use your script to edit some other .xml files however need your programming expertise.

This would be great, but for some reason I cannot install Metamorph - I get a message after it does its initial "start checks" that says ""Some files could not be extracted. . . Make sure you have enough free space in /system and have Busybox installed". I copied busybox over to the appropriate subfolder in /system, but not sure what else to do.
