T-Mobile Theme Chooser Themes. Where to start?

I want to get into theming using the T-Mobile Theme Chooser, but I am literally starting from square one. I am starting with this guide to get an idea of whats going on ( http://www.droidforums.net/forum/tea...ow-basics.html ), then moving onto this one ( [GUIDE] T-mobile theme engine for the faint at heart (non-linux users) - xda-developers ). If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE let me know. Total noob on this, but I want to get into it

first off what os are you running linux or windows if youre running linux you can build from source if windows you can vm linux or use apk manager or something similar to decompile a template like hexamatics templatebread and theme from there

Using apk manager on 64x win7. In short im trying to port a theme built into a rom from froyo. Im trying just copying the drawable folders in the framewor-res.apk. Is that the right idea or no?

you can do it that way but you will have to rewrite the xml names to match the images or vice versa imo easier to change the image names to match check in res/xml/android.xml
