I've read that the phone is not actually overclocked during the boot animation, so I'm not sure it helps. Do you know otherwise?

You can use a auto overclock kernel patch and the phone will boot at the max frequency.

Sweet, I thought I had read about something similar when you said that, but I hadn't seen anything since then. I guess I don't go looking for a whole lot of stuff to do to my phone anymore, since I have it like I like it. I spend most of my time making new animations and wallpapers now.

Incidently, I searched for auto overclocking and found the exact thread I had read before. Nothing too helpful there though, other than you can install a script to basically min/max your kernel at boot. This one is one of Pete's scripts.

Would this be a simple script/patch that works universally or is it rom-specific?

It's not rom specific, but it does matter what kernel version you have. As long as it's a .32 kernel it should work a treat.

I found this by accident, im a big Dr. Who fan and this is just perfect. my only problem is that the audio stops when my droid does that short viration pulse during the boot animation. anyway to fix this or keep the vibration from occuring.

Which version of the animation are you using?

I'm using the 12fps landscape version. The audio completes with maybe half a sec lag in video as my screen dims.

That sounds like the lag I had with that version as well. What phone, D1?
