Background Images for Motorola Droid (960X854)

Welp I couldn't find any topic on this but was wondering. If I was trying to add a wallpaper to my Droid, does it necessarily have to be 960x854?

For Example: would a wallpaper made for a high definition PC work/look good on a Droid?

I have several wallpapers I love on my laptop but am not sure about how they would fare well when ported to my Droid.

960x854 is the native resolution but other sizes will scale to fill the screen. When you select an image for wallpaper, you'll be able to drag the green square to the nearest edges of the image. Therefore some of the width of a widescreen image would be cropped. Generally, images scale quite nicely.

There are applications which offer more options. I prefer to edit all images to 960x854 on my PC before transferring them to my phone.

Ok I see, what program would you suggest using? Based on Ease of use, and all. B/c I have basically no editting skills. lol

Any of the main, free image editors should do nicely. Irfanview, nview, faststone, I think are the names of some common ones.

If you want a good one for your phone, I hear picsay is good.

As far as a viewer/gallery replacement for your phone, I love quickpic... free, simple, excellent. I have tons of pics on my phone and it's lightning quick whereas the froyo gallery is just slow and obnoxious.

Yeah I've noticed that the Froyo Gallery tends to lag when it loads all my pics and stuff. I'll look into Quickpic, and the Image Editors pronto.
