[boot animation] Unstable Core revisited, aka Plasma Core

Excited yet? I have to say, the unstable core boot animation, by compsci04, was one of the first I installed and was very nice for a while. I must admit though, after viewing the video, I was a little disappointed with the boot animation itself.



The real animation shown in the video is a work or art in itself! At the time I installed it, I didn't know enough to mess with it. Recently, I've been seeing its thread, Awesome Boot Animation: Bootanimation.zip, getting some action, so it brought this beauty back into my consciousness.

Anyhow, I've now remade this animation using the video as source. Full credit goes to compsci04 for creating the source animation; it's beautiful. I only wish we could get more from this talented guy. I added a new transition between the stock D1 beginning and unstable core to help open it up.

I hope everyone enjoys this little animation. Extract before transferring to SD/phone.

EDIT: I've added a landscape version just because it looks better fullscreen And now I've added a vertical version, which starts off in portrait mode, but zooms in to see the core running vertically (landscape.) Too much? You'd have to expect nothing less of me.

Oops, sorry about that. The attachment got lost somewhere in the 100 previews I did trying to figure out how to embed youtube. I was asking for help with the custom BB code until I actually posted it and saw it was automagic. duh

Judging from the downloads, this has some popularity. I was considering making some alternate intros using other animations, for example the DX "don't miss" animation. Anyone have requests?

I was working on creating a custom sound clip for this animation but sort of ran out of steam. FlashKit.com is a good place to get royalty free sound fx and I was using some of the electrical and other sounds, but couldn't quite get something that sounded right.

Is there a sound engineer in the house? Perhaps someone who has some ideas or better resources? This animation's just begging for a cool buzzing, zapping, humming soundtrack.

Thanks, how does it play exactly on bootup? I made the loop only play 3 times I think because I have concerns about the D1 playing boot anis with infinite loops until bootup is complete. It seems they lag horribly and sometimes the phone doesn't display the homescreen until you tap home (in my experience.)

Since I've installed the D2R2D2's /system/bin/bootanimation, I haven't had any of those issues.

I had no issues with it running, I was using the landscape version and it looked so gorgeous. I was using it for a week or so until I switched to the "SW:TOR" Animation. No complaints here.

Something is in the works now. I've heard a sample and am anxious to hear and see the results along with this animation.
