Looking for theming help.

it is a .9.png don't edit it, just find a black one. menu_bg_fill_parent (or something like that) in the drawable-hdpi folder.

also, I just looked at UD and CM and the menu_bg_fill_parent's are both light, but in UD the pop up menu is dark?.. Ud has an added .9.png named menu_submenu_background.9.png and it's black... so would that one be the actual menu background?

Interesting. BTW I switched to UD because I didn't want to mess with xml to change date/clock color lol.

Few more questions though.

1. How exactly do I make an update.zip? I'm just reinstalling the whole ROM each time.
2. If I run my theme, and I get lets say a text message, it gave me my custom notification icon(stat_notify_chat). However when I ported it to UD, its using the default messaging icon(one with a smiley) instead of the new image for text messages. What gives? The theme never messed with the messaging.apk when I use to run it, so that can't be it.

I left you a template update.zip a few posts back. Download it and you can use it for any update.zip... I added ud 2.5's stock framework-res.Apk in it under system/framework... you can drag your edited icons into the drawable-hdpi folder of that using the 7zip method and then toss it onto your sd card and flash it like a rom but don't wipe.... if wanna edit Mms.apk you would drag the whole stock UD 2.5 Mms.apk into the system/app/"apks go here". Then drag any edited png's into the drawable-hdpi folder as well...... some roms use some different icons for notification stuff but ud uses the ones from the mms.apk for text and pics alerts....

Hope it all works out for ya.. it's easy for us to say just open the apk and drag the icons over and toss it in an update.zip because we understand that method, whereas you might not so I hope we were efficient in our descriptions of what steps to take.. if you have any issues, keep posting and someone will help ya out.... good luck and toss some screen shots up once ya get it..

Yea. I'm getting it though! I just don't know where everything is.

For example, on UD the lock screen has the UD banner, how do I get rid of that/change it? I deleted the picture of it out of the framework.apk but its still there, so I don't get it lol. Is it in another location too?

Well, BD added a few different lockscreen background.png's to his framework but the main one is the lockscreen_background.png so if you have GIMP, Paint or photoshop you can just make the whole thing look however you want.. fill it in with black or a color, or just edit out the "Ultimate Droid" banner and feather it so ya can't see it...

This thread is chock full of information. I still don't understand half of it but like other threads I'm going to keep coming back to it as I'm making my own theme.
