I Found a east way to get ringtones

Okay I am VERY VERY new to this phone, but I spent last night reading all the threads on here trying ot find a easy way to get ringtones on my phone. After about 3 hours of nothing I found a way.
I went to www.phonezoo.com on my phone searched for the ringtones and then downloaded it right ot the phone, went into music and set it as a ringtone.

I have been using Phonezoo.com for about a year now with my old phone and I know of alot of friends that use it and we never have had problems with it.

I hope this helps someone. Just thought I would share my find.

Oh one more thing, could someone share how to make a ringtone into an alert? I have a really cool "Hey someone done sent me a text message" the I LOVE.

    Thanks

theres an app in the market called "ringdroid". you can take any mp3 (or maybe other soundfiles also) and crop them and save them into system ringtones or notification sounds.

+1 Ringdroid is awesome. But if you don't feel like making your own, there are multiple apps in the market where you can d/l ringtones.

Not sure which phone you have but for the Moto Droid, I change the sound settings by going to the menu (bottom - second one from right that looks like a pile of four _ on top of each other ) ...

So menu - settings - sound - notification ringtone or phone ringtone etc can be changed there.

You can also click on a contact and change their ringtone via the menu - options setting, so when the call, you have customized ringtones.

I use handcent for my text messaging and customize different people with various ringtones via their settings. I have been using them for so long that I can't recall how to use the stock sms app.

    putting ringtones on droid

    mount sdcard on pc
    create folder called audio
open /audio and create folder called ringtones
open /audio/ringtones and copy any mp3 to this folder
    unmount
on droid - got to settings-sounds-ringtone and select the file u want to use
i know it works on my rooted droid

I personally make my ringtones using the sound editor in Roxio Creator 2009 Ultimate. I can zoon and get it the begin and end precisely down to milliseconds. Everyone has their own process and maybe this thread diannatheduck has started will give her even more ideas.

    Also:
Many people actually don't know this, but if you open a contact and hit the menu button then options you can set ringtones per contact without any apps. You can also send people's calls directly to voicemail in there as well. If he/she made you mad just put em on ignore using that option. I know some of you already know this but maybe someone will read this and learn something new.

I LOVE PHONEZOO - I've been using it for almost 2 years. I make tons from my music library etc. As for using one of your ringtones as a notification sound....its my understanding that you need to move that particular ringtone into the NOTIFICATIONS folder on your SD CARD. I have a bunch of files that I have in both my ringtone & notificaions folder because I use it for both. I havent found a way to use one file for both types - I've had to have copy in each folder....If I am wrong...someone please leave details....
I'm up for learning new things!

As far as I know you are correct izzysmom. You have to make separate folders for Notifications, Ringtones and Alarm (If you want ringtones as an alarm, Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff makes a great alarm for me, heh). Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. This is what I do. If there is an easier way let me know. I would love to save space instead of needing to copy redundant files to other folders.

anyone tried Mabilo? It has a pretty good selection of ring tones. IMO its the best.
You have to go through Mabilo Sounds (search on market or Here) to get it though. :/ Got taken off the market for obvious reasons...
