I finally figured out how to download my itunes music (instructions can be found here
Itunes App )
Now I need a tutorial on how to set up this file on the SD card you all speak of. Unless someone wants to be kind enough to explain it here

Hook your Motorola Droid to your computer, it (phone) will give you the option to mount it...select yes. Go into your computer and select the removable device that is now there. Create a new folder on the removable device...you can name it anything you want (named mine MP3) the music player will find all of your songs.
Just loaded mine up and it was easier than I expected being that I have had verizon phones for so long and used to need to hack everything to get songs on.

I just got my droid and want to put mp3's as ringtones. I followed the steps stated in this thread - mounted the device, etc. I opened it up, but the "media" folder and the other folders I saw in the screen shot posted in earlier pages werent there. this is all that in mine:

can I create a folder names "ringtones" here? or does it have to be a sub folder of the media folder? if so, any idea why I dont have one?
-
I created a directory called "media". Below that, a directory called "audio". Below that, a directory called "ringtones". The MPEG Layer 3 files I put there all show up as ringtones in any ringtone list.
Do ensure you're using a fully supported media file format, of course.

Excellent tip. Thank you.

Something i did notice is you must be sure that ringtones is in lower case. not upper

Ok...I feel like I'm missing a step.
I made a directory called "ringtones" and put in it the sound files I used as ringtones on my e815. When I go to browse ringtones on the droid they're not there. What'd I miss?

This has probably already been posted, but my set up on my SD card is /Media/Audio and then three separate folders Ringtones, Alarms, Notifications. All go through no problem.
-
Anyone have some insight on this.
Most of my ringtones are showing up, except for 2 which were made with Audacity for Mac.
They are ALL mp3 files, I even tried renaming them M4A and all but those same 2 showed up even after being renamed.
Any ideas ?

Hey everyone, I use a program called dvdvideosoft (found here: DVDVideoSoft.com: Download free DVD, iPod, YouTube video converter and editor software and freeware ) this program is 100% free. I have been using it for almost a year now... works awesome. Basically it has a bunch of tools in it, but the one i use is the "Youtube to mp3 downloader", and you just go to youtube, find a song or video that has the audio that you want and copy the URL and paste it into the program, it downloads it and also has a "audio dub" which u can use to chop it up. its free, easy, and virus free (my fav). plus its pretty legit if your concerned about "legality" of the action, since youtube is a open source free sharing website, the music ur pulling is fair game.
p.s. if you own a zune, ipod, mp3 player and wanna stay more legit or sick of the stupid virus' you get from limewire, this program works great for mp3 and or videos from youtube..

I'm using Zedge to search for ringtones. Once I find one I like, I click "play/save ringtone" and the ringtone automatically plays, doesn't give me an option to save it.
What am I doing wrong?
