What is "Media Share" under Wireless Networks (on JB ROM)

Tinkering with my Maxx today and checking JB settings and I came across "Media Share" unter the network settings. What is it and what is it for. If I enable it, I immediately get two requests to share data "with other devices on your network".

Just curious if anyone knows and can explain more about it.

it implements the dlna protocol. allowing you to remotely share your files on your phone with other devices connected to the same network as your phone.

When I first tried it my windows 7 PC recognized it no problem. All devices compliant with dlna should automatically detect it on the network. I.e. xbox ps3 other RAZR phones.
