Map Rendering

I was showing a friend that has an iPhone 4S my Razr this weekend & I was playing around with his phone & went to Maps & noticed his Maps when panning around it never had any render lag in it like all of the Android phones I've had. Even with a dual core/1Gb RAM, there is still render lag time? I would've assumed the panning to a new area of the map would be instant. Even setting pre-cache areas on the map, panning around still has a second lag to regen that area. iPhones is instant.

Anyone else notice this or am I being too picky?
