Received my Razr on Tuesday (2/7/2012) and activated it immediately. I upgraded from an original Droid.

Here are my thoughts so far...

FIT & FINISH
The phone is very well designed and very well made. It's a Motorola, enough said.


MEMORY
I bought the 16GB Razr and transferred my 16GB SD Card from my original Droid. Everything is working well, no problems.


SIZE
Although the Razr is bigger than the original Droid, I do not mind the larger size at all. The bigger screen is a welcome change. The thickness (or thinness) of this phone is amazing. It is so light and thin compared to my original Droid that I can carry it in my shirt pocket and I hardly know it's there.


BATTERY
I am getting better battery life than I did with my original Droid. I am not a gamer and I do not watch videos. I use my phone for business (email, textng, GPS). So far I have had more than 50% battery left each day at bedtime. I have not explored the Smart Actions yet, but I expect my battery life to get even better when I do.


APPS
I do not use a lot of apps and I am finding the built in apps to be very functional (email and texting). I like the built in email app better than K9.
I do use some apps from the market. I frequently tell people that my smart phone has taken the place of several devices I used to carry with me for work.

SCREEN
I am really enjoying the larger screen size. The resolution and brightness is terrific. No complaints.

Hi Folks! I'm in Phoenix AZ. I am not in an office at all. Everything I do is mobile.

The battery was at 20% by 2 PM. BUT..., it's like the first time you go scuba diving. You use an entire tank in no time because you don't know what you are doing. After a few dives, you learn how to pace yourself. Then you find that 72 cubic foot tank lasts much longer then it did in your initial dive(s).

The biggest mistake I made is getting a screen cover from the low budget store that I bought the Razr from. It's coming off tonight as soon as I can get to that store and cancel the contract that gives me a new screen protector anytime I want one. The reason it's a problem is that the Razr is not as bright as the Bionic. So the stupid screen protector (it has a matted kind of texture) exacerbates the screens weakness.

The phone loads apps quicker then the Bionic. I have not even looked at the smart actions software that helps one set rules for usage.

The absolute best thing about the phone is that it has a stronger battery with less weight then the Bionic with the "Extended Battery."

Right now, I am inclined to return the Razr Maxx and return to my Bionic until ICS shows up. I will say though, I got an update about noon today that took me from 6.11.784 to 6.12.173. Why couldn't I get the update on the Bionic that would take me from .893 to .902 (or at least .901)? Yes, it's rooted but i did get the ota from .886 to .893. And, it's not Cheesecaked.

So, we'll see... I do like the look and feel of the Razr Maxx. In doors, the screen is better then the bionic. Out of doors, it's still a little lacking but I hope that has more to do with the screen protector then the screen res (I know, the Bionic has a white pixel that makes it brighter...).

I will root the Maxx when I have completed an install OTA of ICS. Until then, I don't want to take a chance that I'd step out of line to get ICS with a leaked version of an OTA or something. I believe that when I can freeze apps on the Maxx with Titanium, I'll be much better off.

The build of the Razr with the thicker battery is pure quality! I was torn between the Nexus and the Maxx. I just don't like the plastic build on the Nexus. And, I don't want a less then premium screen on a premium OS. Why Samsung didn't use the Super Amoled Plus screen on the Nexus is beyond me. My guess is that they were constrained by a price point.

I was tempted by the Rezound (better screen and aluminum frame - quality build - but in the end, it didn't feel that great in the hand as did the Bionic and the Razr. Besides, HTC seems to have issues with the battery and the antenna combo in the back. Plus the light seepage around the buttons at the bottom just made the Rezound a little less then the Razr.

So for me, it's all about a lighter phone, a quality build and a better battery. Aka..., the Razr Maxx.

Higher resolution =! better screen. I've used my RAZR side by side with a Rezound and the RAZR's screen wins hands down. Also, I haven't heard a single person complain about the pentile screen on the GNex.

I am on my third so far seems to be good, they had a lot of software issues when I got my first two! Like the phone when it works!

Yesterday I posted about my experience with my brand new Droid Razr Maxx.

Yesterday I noted that I had placed a poor quality screen protector on the Razr I bought. I did indeed remove it and installed a quality screen protector. It is greatly improved. The screen is far better now that I have a quality screen protector.

I haven't taken any time to learn the Smart Actions yet. That's maybe this weekend. However, I was moaning about the poor battery life. Well today is far better. I stayed on 3g all day so far. Right now I'm at 60%. I spent at least a couple of hours looking through Zedge (.com i think??) for ring tones and notification tones. I'd dare say had I not done that I'd be at like 80%.

There was an earlier mention of the Pentile Screen in the Nexus. Well, yes, it's pen tile but it's a very high resolution (ppi). So it's highly unlikely one would notice the jaggies in a resolution upwards of 300 ppi. The reason I mentioned it here is that the Razr Maxx has a Pen Tile display. Unfortunately, it has a lower resolution (like 260 ppi or so...?). Anyway, I have no complaints about the Pen Tile display on the Razr. In fact, I forgot about the Pen Tile display until I saw mention of it in this thread. So I looked at the phone (with the superior screen protector). Honestly, I can see it but barely. My guess is that if I held it up to a Galaxy Nexus, I'd see the jaggies in the Razr. But on it's own, it's really not an issue for me. In fact, the brightness of the screen while less then the Bionic is a better choice for me then the Nexus in that I'm out of doors all day long.

So in sum, the lighter phone, the better battery, the improved screen protector, and overall superior build to the Nexus, I'll stay with the Razr Maxx.

Had the droid bionic and had it replace three times, now im on the droid razar and loving it right now

Got mine last Tuesday. Rooted on Thursday. uninstalled too much crap on Friday. crashed the Contacts the same day.

studied on Saturday on bootloader, safestrap, clockworkmod, RSD Lite, GSM and all Android flavours.

same day installed safestrap, make a backup, RSD Lite my Canadian Rogers GSM VT910 with vanilla Brazilian ENG ROM, re-rooted, put safestrap back on, and all is wellin RAZR land by Sunday morning

still tons to learn on new ROMs, proper backup, nandroid, sdcards (there's internal AND external and CWM dont wanna mount?), and download more crap to play around with....

I am a new RAZR owner. I absolutely love this phone as im coming from a Droid 2. I can't wait until tomorrow when I can root this bad boy and get all my apps and everything back. Quick question the guy at the store updated the phone to the newest software without me realizing it. Is it hard to root this device.
