Regarding battery life after the upgrade...

In doing some research, I noticed the phone is set to global mode by default. Then digging some more, I noticed that cell standby was 70 percent after today's work.

I have had the MAXX for a while now and cell standby has never been that high. Makes me wonder if the change in the radio is the possible culprit to this battery issue.

Dial in to *#*#4636#*#* and click on phone information scroll down to where the radio information LTE/CDMA/EvDo is and click on it and scroll up to CDMA auto (PRL).

That will essentially get you back to CDMA only, see if you cell standby improves.

Edit: Possibly better directions or maybe more clear ones here.

I already changed it back over to LTE/CDMA in Settings. Washington State has superb LTE, so that's not the issue.

I'm just wondering, for all of the other people who are having issues, if the global setting is the battery eater. Since I have the MAXX it's not really a fair test.

I haven't had a regular usage day since I upgraded to ICS, but it really seems like my battery dies way too fast. Today 6hrs and 28min of battery usage left me with 20% battery left. This is a RAZR MAXX, but I've been on it constantly since I updated about 4 days ago.

Gonna have to find some settings to save battery life.

I actually use 4G all the time now. It doesn't drain my battery as much as it used to as soon as I found out the location services take up WAY more battery.

Yea...I still havent found anything concrete or definite saying if global drains the battery more for us in the US. I remember something about it with the Droid 2 Global tho...and now I cant find it....lol. I spend most of my time in a weak reception area....it might be hard for me to tell anything.

What I do notice is on Global....my data speeds are slower...and in areas with no signal...I got prompted for putting the phone on Global.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

    Update:

So after setting it to LTE/CDMA, the battery appears to have stabilized itself. Cell standby/Time without a signal has dropped down to a more respectable 26% (which appears to be an overall average).

piggybacking off of what AndroidKachi7 said...I wonder if the "Global" setting is making more heavy use of Location Services in order to find global signals, thus draining the battery at a more rapid rate.

What I plan to do is powercycle the phone before I put it on the dock tonight. With the "Global" setting off it makes my phone basically what it was when I installed the ICS leak. Then I'll run with my normal usage tomorrow and see what the dropoff is. I usually stream music at work which results in a roughly ~13-15 hours of battery. If I get that then I know I'm back to normal...and I'll see if "time without a signal" is in the normal range which is less than 10%.

I have to also "hack" the Motorola Task Manager back into ICS somehow, just haven't had time, but now that I know how to do it I have to get working on that.
