Lately the only advertisement that keeps popping up is up in the notification bar, stating some GO product is 40% off and I should immediately download it.. -_- This pops up every couple days only when my background data is enabled. If background data is off, I see no reminders or advertisements.

Same here.. On ICS my phone life was pretty great. I remember getting 30+ hours with moderate use. Switching to GO Launcher on JB has helped a lot, but nothing compares to when I was on ICS.. or GB, in fact, because that's when I got the most out of my phone when I first purchased it. Now THAT was amazing.

I'm not sure what you mean by not all playing on the same field...gsam gives time used of many of the power killers on the phone...it is a lot better than a screen shot of the stock battery application...i can tell you that even though my screen on time was only 2 and a half hours, a good chunk of it was when i was playing ingress or using waze...if you have played ingress it is probably the most taxing application on battery.

For those that have tried the chrome thing and it is still draining, if you just disabled the tilt scroll, make sure to restart the phone. I forgot to mention that in the post.

I am seeing that the "wakelock" is using a lot of battery, there are many different wakelocks. when i did my troubleshooting using GSAM, i noticed that it was a wakelock, but in order to find out which one it was, I went through the different menues in the app breakdown. Kernel Wakelock was the one that i found to show a specific wakelock (i cant remember the exact name) that was running almost as long as my phone had been on. After some googling it led me to the chrome fix mentioned above.

@TriciaH If you can, follow the (confusing) steps above, and see if you can find a specific wakelock that looks higher than the rest and perhaps we can find a solution for you. Also, are you using google now? and if so you may want to take a look at some settings and disable ones you dont need.

Ads in notification must becoming from an installed app.
I never get them, unless I download a "free" app then if they start I remove that app.

Oh no! Please get rid of that task manager...if it is auto killing apps that can be part of your battery woes. Android handles the s tasks great and in jelly bean it is better than ever. If you are automatically killing background tasks, the phone is continually restarting them..this is a never-ending loop of killing the battery. Try getting rid of the task manager for a while and see if that helps.

I did not express myself clearly. By "even playing field", I meant that we are measuring the same things. In other words, usage via times that the screen is open, phone talk minutes, etc. Around 4pm, I'll have two screen shots of GSam. First will be for period 1 am - 8:30. Second 8:30 to @ 4pm. The phone was not active in the first session. Pretty active in the second - at least so far. Correction...Second screen shot will be the accumulative usage for 1am through 4pm.

    This is what I found,

A wake lock is essentially used to lock the device in an "awake" state, in which the CPU will be on, and the screen may or may not be on.

It is not possible to do these tasks without a wakelock if the phone is in sleep otherwise, as then the CPU is also in sleep mode. However, if the user is using the device for something else, and your app is in the background, you can do these tasks without a wakelock.

Keep in mind that almost everything you're doing is battery intensive (sensors, WiFi, wakelock) and you should not do it too often so that you don't degrade the user's battery life.

    I found this helpful.

System wakelock with included processes mediaserver and *wakelock* have kept the phone awake 3 hours and 1 minute out of 3 hours and 42 minutes since rebooting after I disabled the tilt in Chrome. That is at 9.1% of battery use at the top of the list. Guess I am going to have to figure out what app is going stupid. Mediaserver does not tell me much - or I do not understand what it is telling me. Maps is not running. Google now is not set up. No streaming music. Not downloading anything or watching videos. At work most of that is pretty much out.

For media server, are you using motocast, dropbox or VZ back up assistant? Those could be looking to sync..or have something to download but can't cuz no space is available on one of those cloud services.

I don't use Motocast, dropbox or VZ backup assistant. I only sync to Google and that is manually started - not set to auto sync. No apps are set to auto-update either. I have Picasa set to update over WiFi only and I am on 3G here at the office. Strange huh. Most of the Verizon bloat apps are disabled. Not uninstalled, just disabled.

Oh I only do Facebook at home too - not on the phone. I am just no fun huh lol.
