search messages

I can't seem to search my messages (specifically texts) by contact. i.e. "what was that message Pete sent me last week?". Instead i only get results if i remember a word that was in the message and search for that, i.e. "schedule"; when i need my schedule from Pete. Does my question make sense? Thanks for your time
