    Docs to go and ICS

Documents to go is broken with the 4.0 update. I have been fighting this problem for 2 weeks plus and I still can not save a word file after I edit it. The developer is aware but no fix yet.

What about the Quickoffice that is on the phone, I just tested it and was able to open edit and save the file.

    Also welcome to the forums.

documents to go is working fine on my ICS. I have the purchased version, don't know why you're having issues. Did you purchase the Full version, because that's what I have and have never had a problem with any of the operating systems.

Yes I have the full version and have for quite some time. The support guy at DataViz says that they are aware of the problem. I use this software to invoice my customers and not having the ability to edit the invoice and save it is a problem to me. This is a potential loss of income for me as it is very difficult to reconstruct the activities of the day when I get to my desktop at home. I need this software as it is critical in my business. Data Viz has acknowledged the problem and I would think the 15 days should be enough to at least come up with a solution or a work around at least.

What's it doing exactly?? I had an issue where it just wouldn't work. It wouldn't view certain files like it should've. A factory reset is the only thing that fixed it..

As far as keeping track of your day to day, email.. or try searching for something comparable on the play store

I'd give another office suite a try till the problem is resolved.

This is a full free solution. Their desktop software is really good, and I think I may give it a try on my tablet (been looking for a decent tablet office solution). Lots of stellar reviews.

If the software is mission critical, then you need to immediately develop a fall back plan. For example, do you have a desktop, laptop, netbook, or tablet available to capture the information? All kidding aside, can you make hand written notations, logs, etc. and then transcribe them at a later time when it is more convenient? The technology should be working for you and not the other way around. That being said, it sounds like a little bit of contingency planning is in order here.

I do not know what the economic impact is for you of the potential loss of data, however if the downside is significant, then perhaps you should also consider using a different device, even on a temporary basis. For example, Docs to Go works on the iPhone and Blackberry platforms, as well as Android. You could also pick up a different Android device that is still capable of working with DTG.

Was your business started or created prior to the intro of DTG? If so, how were things done in the "old days"? What about a cloud based solution?

I believe that if you brainstorm this long enough, you will come up with a viable solution. Dataviz may not be able to resolve your problem as quickly as you would like. Therefore it is not advisable to be so dependent on a sole source vendor in this case. I recognize that my commentary is very much "after the fact", however you will get past this and want to plan for the next time, which there will always be.

I used to work in a state of the art technology environment for Citibank in the early '80's, and that's when I learned about the importance of risk assessment and contingency planning.
It also sounds as if you are using some form of a template. Maybe a backed up copy of an earlier version can be tweaked in a way that will work, even on the new version.

I hope that you find a solution asap. Good luck.

I did a bit of experimenting today while taking a break at work. Yes, I work on Sundays! I find that I can create and save a new file however I cannot edit and then replace a file. The replaced file goes to that bit bucket in the sky not to be found again. I found that I can edit my current invoice and then do a "save as" under the original file name and it works. I found my own work around. Thanks for the help as you got me to thinking about the problem differently. I appreciate it!

I had used docs to go before on a Palm device prior to getting my original Motorola Droid. I really like the software as it has worked well for me. I am 74 years old and rather set in my ways and generally do not react well to adversity like this. All I needed to do was to take a deep breath approach the problem from a different direction. Thank you all for your help!

I can only hope that I have as much vigor as you once I reach 74, which is less than 20 years away. My occupation causes me to work 7 days a week (the curse of being self employed). However, weekends are great for the "quiet time" to take different approaches. I still miss using my Palm T3, which I still have. Saving it as a collector's item
