The drill bit idea was rather brilliant
Yeah, SallyC has had some excellent ideas and great info! I have learned tons from her!

Exactly! I haven't had this particular issue and I use headphones a lot, but I get so frustrated when people suggest using after market products or apps to get my phone to do something it is supposed to do already.Originally Posted by Locker
Im having this issue as well... Was particularly bad yesterday I was on my motorcycle, and since I have problems with the wind pressure in my right ear I have to wear either an ear plug or an earbud with music. I opted for the music as I can still hear cars, trucks, my motorcycle and so on. I don't turn it up very loud.
The wind buffetting cause my sound to go in and out, or from left ot right. If i shake the jack back and forth it works fine.
Same as OP, no dirt, lint or anything in my phones. The head phone jack has just gradually gotten weaker and now it has to be in the perfect spot to work and any wind from an ant fart will disrupt it
Have you checked inside the jack for debris?? Lint or dirt or anything like that??
If you have and its clear, LOOK REALLY GOOD.. then get some isopropyl alcohol, 90%+ the higher the better, apply a little to the end if your headphone jack, and plug it in and out several times. This should aid in removing the oxidation.
Use just a little. And be sure you don't have debris blocking your plug first

I'm 110% sure there is nothing in the jack. it's as clean as it can be. Besides, much to everyones common belief, dirt wouldn't cause this sort of issue. This is a jack to board issue, much like the DroidX, it's due to design of the plug, that motorola has stupidly gone with.
I had the same issue with my droid X
I had the same exact problem with my Droid Razr and my Droid Razr Maxx, the lady at Verizon had them both replaced but she said motorola prefers you use their headphones... what xD
Lol! That's because motorola prefers you to use everything of theirs! Chalk one up for another Verizon sales rep (jackiecivic not included)!
I would probably use Motorola ear buds, but the last ones that I bought from Verizon were so big, they wouldn't go in my ears. Thus the need for after market products which have several sized buds to choose from.Originally Posted by Fall
