How long to activate new phone

Just received our maxx's today, but I want to wait until my cases come in (just ordered 2 otterbox defenders today). How long do you have to activate? Is it easy to switch back and forth from old phone to new phone if I wanted to say go on vacation and take my dx instead of the maxx so I don't lose it, then switch back again? This doesn't change your plan at all correct???

Did you get it from Verizon? I ask, because some places (Let's Talk, NewEgg, etc.) have policies where you have to have the device active on a line for 6 months before swapping about. Verizon doesn't care.

If you want, you can activate the phone now, and swap back to your DX, and wait for your case. Again, assuming you got it from vzw.

Online from your MyVerizon account. I think you can also call in. There should be instructions with your phone when you get it.
