App for unlocking HDMI out for certain apps?

Most specifically I want to use HBOgo on my TV. I had a Bionic and used Xternal display but can't remember if it worked preroot or if it only worked after I rooted. I just got this phone and dont want to root it till I am sure I want to keep it.

Is there an app out there that will bypass that darn lock out with out a root?

I searched the play store and there is only Xternal for Droid X. I tried it and say "error encountered"

I know there are other threads on this but not for the Razr series and not this specific. If there is please send me a link.

EDIT: Even though it says error encountered. it stil worked. I should have tried it before this post. SO ingore this. (Face palms self)

Are you saying the HBO app now has a work around?

Using Xternal Displayy for droid X worked for me. Turn it on and then just plug in. It will say error encountered when opening the Xternal app but ignore it. You can only do mirror display though. Well from what I got in my results.
