    Kernel using too much battery?

I use the app Badass Battery Monitor to check my battery usage. I've been checking for a while which apps might be using up my battery, but it all seems normal. The only thing that seems abnormal is the amount of battery my phone's kernel uses up. The app says the kernel is taking anywhere from about 25%-35%. Is this range too high? The screen's usage is usually only at about 20-30%. I keep 4g data on and not 3g. I don't know why the kernel is taking up this much battery. Nor do I fully understand what a kernel is, but I feel that it shouldn't consume that much battery.

The kernel is the lowest level of the operating system, it's the framework upon which the Android OS runs, and depending on what you may have running in the background. At times it might not show up on the list, others it can be a major drain.

Also remember its not using 25-30% of your battery. Its using 25-30% of the battery used so far. So if you're at 70% battery left the kernel is only using 25-30% of the 30% used. If you're not using your phone much then low level stuff will be all that's using anything. With your screen % so low I can assume you're not a heavy user and hence why some lower level things are even showing.

I also use bad###battery monitor and have the same kernal usage but my battery is fine. I easily get a full day with moderate to heavy use with anywhere from 4-6 hours of screen on time. Yesterday was a heavy usage day where I used GPS for about 2 hours and my daughter watched a Netflix movie plus some calls and texts and after 17 hours I still had 30% left with a total if 4 hours and 50 minutes of screen on time , mostly using 4G. So I'm not to concerned about it. Now the best paet is if I need to stretch I turn 4G off and can stretch for 2 days with light use. Never could have done it with any other Android device before. So I have to assume that its normal. I dont really know why I monitor battery anymore, I have a hard time killing this thing. Lol

Both excellent representations. The percentages often confuse people so if you were thinking it was pulling that much of the battery's actual capacity, you're not alone.
