Battery at 60% by 9am -HELP

I get up at 6 for the gym. Sometimes I use my phone for YouTube while I'm taking my morning bathroom break bit thats it. It stays in my truck until I'm done by 830-9. A few times it has been crazy hot when I get in and the battery is really low. Today it was down to 60%. The shots show maps and OS are the culprit. What's going on while I'm away from my phone??

Go to your settings, select apps, manage apps, all (tab at the top). Scroll down and select maps. After you open it you should see options to clear cache then clear data. Do the cache first then the data. See if that reduces the amount of time the app is being used. If that doesn't work try uninstalling maps then reinstall it. Something may have gone a little wonky with the app. I have the same phone and don't remember a recent update for maps. Also haven't had this problem (yet).

Make sure that "Location History" is not checked in Maps settings.

I just came here for this same reason! This is my map usage while I was at work for 12 hrs last night. Never opened maps once on my own. Wow. Silly app! I'm going to try the things suggested - thanks all!

If you have ANY location settings turned on, maps is going to keep your phone awake, I have found.

So I uninstalled the updates and then re-updated Maps. Then turned off location reporting for Facebook and Twitter. It seems to have done the trick so far! Wakelocks and such are way, way down and Maps itself is now almost at the bottom of the list in GSAM app usage instead of 2nd or 3rd. The ss is only of 2 hrs, but I had similar results last night after longer periods.

After reading most of these posts, the one that made the most sense imo is that its true Maps could do a better job of handling multiple, repetitive location requests from different apps. However, because it just checks again any time an app requests it, even if it just checked for a different app a second ago, the only way to manage this right now is limit the number of apps that are asking. Until Google finds a way to change that. If you have a whole line of people in front of you, each walking up to you in turn and asking what time it is, do you look at you watch again every single time? No. But maps does, evidently..... At least if I understand what you all have explained....

I've noticed a huge difference in the number of wakelocks since changing my Maps settings. A few days ago, right after I changed it, I was off the charger over 5hrs with 30 minutes of screen on time and was still at 99%.
