    Unrooting confusion, please help!

Alright guys im not big into rooting and i need a lil help and a lot of patience. I recently bought a used RAZR and was able to obtain insurance through verizon on it. I really dont care to have it rooted and would prefer to be able to unroot it in case i need to use my insurance. My phone currently gives me the option to go into recovery mode by hitting menu at the start up screen and is using Safestrap V. 1.07. It has SuperUser installed. My problem is 1) i dont know how to delete safestrap. it doesnt appear in my app list, and using superuser and ES file explorer i dont see it anywhere in the directory. I assume its on the stock rom already as it has all the verizon bloatware on it and seems stock. (the text icon is a smiley face instead of looking like mail tho.) Problem 2 is after going into recovery mode it tells me theres a Nandroid back up that was saved to the external SD, however my phone didnt come with the SD card and theres no back up on the one i put in it. So, is it safe to simply delete safe strap then SuperUser, then all the su files that leave evidence of being rooted? I've tried to research this the best i can, but now im reaching out - thx

Unrooting is not that difficult but the question is whether you have access to the main phone features. In other words, can you boot to a home screen? If so, jump to the bottom of this post in RED. If not, then continue immediately below.

    What I need to know in order to get you back to stock is whether you can get to the Boot Mode Selection Menu. Here's what I need you to do;
    1. Power off the phone if you can
      1. If you can't power off the phone, see the boldface bullet points in the second section below.
    2. Press and hold BOTH volume control buttons at the same time and then press and hold the Power button along with the other two buttons.
    3. If the phone responds with a white text menu on a black screen, we're in good shape.
    4. If the phone does not respond with that menu, report back to us here.
    5. The phone will eventually time out and reboot. Don't worry about it.
    6. Go to UPDATED Droid RAZR Utility [WINDOWS], and download the latest driver for your version of computer OS, then download the full version of the Droid RAZR Utility.
    7. Extract that entire package onto your desktop in its own folder
    8. Now press and hold all three side buttons at once until the Boot Mode Selection Menu appears
    9. Press the Volume Down button TWICE to move the white highlight down to the line that is labeled AP Fastboot.
      1. If you overshoot it DO NOT PRESS Volume UP, instead continue pressing Volume Down and it will eventually start back at the top.
    10. Once you have AP Fastboot highlighted, press the Volume UP to select it.
    11. In the next screen, you'll be in the AP Fastboot menu.
    12. Take your USB cable and connect between the phone and the PC.
    13. Now, open the folder for the Droid RAZR Utility and run the DroidRAZRUtility.bat file.
    14. Select option 1.
    15. Follow instructions and it will install a brand new Stock ROM onto the phone.
You should be good to go.

If you can't get to the Boot Mode Selection Menu through the normal path described above, follow these steps:
    • Press and hold vol down and power, when the screen flickers [and then shuts off], quickly release those buttons and then quickly press all 3 side buttons (power, vol up, vol down)
    • This should bring you to the Boot Mode Selection Menu
    • Use vol down to highlight the SBF Flash Option
    • Use vol up to select it
    • Press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds then release.
    • Now the phone should power down completely after a couple seconds
    • Now go to step 6 above.
Credit for the AWESOME workaround described immediately above goes to spc_hicks09. I tried the above process to get to the Boot Mode Selection Menu and it worked perfectly the very first time. There is additional benefits to this method where a battery charge issue is the problem, or where you can't power off the phone, but for the OP, this will get him where he needs to be.

    Good luck!

If you can get to the main home screen, follow the process to download and install the Droid RAZR Utility. Then:
    1. Select the Menu button (bottom left of the phone)
    2. Choose Settings
    3. Choose Applications
    4. Choose Development
    5. Check the USB Debugging box
    6. Hit the Home key
    7. Power off the phone by pressing and holding the power button
    8. Select Power off from the menu
    9. Press and hold all three buttons on the side to enter the Boot Mode Selection Menu
    10. Press Volume Down TWICE to highlight AP Fastboot
    11. Press the Volume UP to put the phone into AP Fastboot
    12. Now run the DroidRAZRUtility.bat, but instead of choosing option 1 to reinstall the Fastboot ROM, you will want to choose option 3 to Unroot.
    13. Follow instructions.

Thanks for info! Turns out i was just over thinking the whole situation. After more research i found out i was on the stock rom+root, i just couldnt find a way to delete safestrap. In the end i simply reinstalled safestrap (v1.09 on top of 1.07) and it reappeared in my app list. I uninstalled it and the splash screen is gone. I then uninstalled superuser and the su files from the bin directories and did a factory reset. My phone starts up normally and i dont see any traces of it being rooted so i think im good!

All's well that ends well. Glad things worked out.
