My personal experience is with 3 of the exact same device. Look at the other post in this thread and NOT one other person has the same issue.

Why harm the retailer of a good product by giving information that is not confirmed? "Droid Razr Otter Box WARNING"Droikind Razr Otter Box WARNING"
That helps noone and sheds a negative light on a very good product. You can bet Otterbox went through lots of R & D with these products.

17 posters have positive results and the op has a different result. My conclusion is that the op has another issue besides the case.

I understand sharing information is good and all that crap but false information is BAD. Maybe change the title asking if others have had an overheating issue.
But to out right make an unsubstantiated claim that a product is bad without no more proof than your own personal experience is wrong and un American in my humble opinion.

You cant remove someones first impression, even if its wrong

How does that help anyone? its an attack, its not a post trying to help.

If he was trying to help he would be seeking information on why it was overheating and asking if others have the same issue.
Instead he makes a claim that is not proven and I do not believe can be proven.
If thats the kind of information you guys want to share than so be it.

I myself like to see evidence before I make a judgement on anything.

Look, the Defender essentially makes any phone a brick. While I am disappointed that the form of the RAZR is so drastically obscured, I am exuberant at the fact that my phone can take just about anything I throw at it (or throw it at). Cases do increase the temperature of the phone, that's nothing new. However, the increase is so slight that it rarely impacts the performance of the phone. I think the reason there's so many negative replies to this post is because people love their Otter Box cases, and there have been so many problems with the RAZR that blame cannot be solely placed on the case. My advice is take everything with a grain of salt.

Have you looked at Amazon product reviews? You'll have a field day there! Lol.

I don't own an otterbox, and the OP's post does not affect my opinion of the product, but gives me something to think about if I should ever get one.
Not thinking is the real danger.

I too kinda thought the OP kinda looked like an otterbox competitor, however it's very possible the otterbox is the culprit in his case. I know people that work outside for a few hours and the razr has to turn itself off, no case on it. If that person had a rubber/plastic case on it, it would be even worse. Thinking about outside temp, what apps are running, and signal strength, I can absolutely see the otterbox causing this, just not solely causing this.

The Op's criticism of the otterbox was vague at best. " It caused my phone and sim card to overheat" means what? Did the phone enter protection mode? What was the internal temperature that constituted a condition described as "overheated?
This "information" was not helpful it was groundless, baseless and a stab in the dark.
Removed the case and ALL was well? Really?

As an example, just to make the point. I took my phone and looked at my battery app, temp was 94*F took the cover off and waited, now it is 84* Otterbox ? Possibly something else?
    - It was in my pocket, now it's not. Maybe my pockets are the problem.
    - May have had some internal operations running then that aren't now running, no way of knowing.
    - Is 84* or 94* an issue at all? I've heard of temps approaching 120*....?
    - In my stat history, my low 62.6* and my high 95* - BOTH and all in between were with the case ON ? What does that mean if anything?
    - I have no way of knowing what each pieces operating temp was (phone, battery, sim, circuit board, etc)
    - Maybe the case keeps the phone from running hot sometimes that if it wasn't on the phone would heat up more quickly or run to an even higher temp. example: phone is inadvertantly left in the sun.

I doubt a viable technology accessory company would take a product to market and survive let alone succeed if their design was so fundamentally flawed that it would take a temperature sensitive devices' operating temperature to dangerously high levels.

Update: As mentioned, temp went to 84* when I took the case off. I waited until it went to and seemed to stabilize at 82.4*.
So, I reinstalled the case and left the phone while I went and took care of some stuff (approx 30 minutes) temp is now 78.2* with the case still on.
Doesn't sound like very conclusive evidence.

I do know one thing. IF I drop my phone with the case OFF the outcome WILL be very different than with the case ON.

I would trend to agree with that. Unless the phone itself indicated an overheating situation, it may simply have been warmer/hotter than what the OP was expecting or was used to.

As said so many times before, there isn't anywhere for heat generated by the phone and battery to go other than right to the case exterior, so there is a certain period of adjustment to the unique characteristics of these densely packed thermal generators.

People rush to judgement and attack companies all the time on these boards, would you remove every post that does?

    1) Remove all phone rumors and news articles that talk about future prospects.

    2) Remove all posts that talk bad about
    -Verizon
    -Apple
    -Google
    -Samsung
    -Motorola
    -HTC

    3) Remove all posts that talk about certain apps that
    -MAY cause privacy concerns
    -MAYBE cause data usage overages

    4) Remove all troubleshooting posts for anyone that needs help unbricking their phone based off incidental data.

Why should this be any different?

I think your post needs to be deleted because you have not exhibited any concrete evidence that I am unethical and immoral.

You are hurting the name of the company I will call myself.
