Did you make a backup first and no, no reboot, just flash gapps then reboot

No, I don't think I made a backup.

And I rebooted before flashing Gapps...

its ok just go back to recovery but this time dont use droid2 boot strap there is an option in power menu that allows rebooting into recovery

Silent Mode
Airplane Mode
Choose Profile
Screenshot
Reboot
Power Off

Am I missing something?

Select reboot then select reboot recovery

Wow. Exactly teh same as my Incredible running CM6...like I said, sometimes I go full retard.

So reboot in to recovery, run gapps. Reboot, or is there a way to make a backup, or have I gone WAY past that point?

Its doing great so far jackpot and I got it overclocked to 1.2 and running perfect,after the 4 initial bootup battery pulls ,now I can gauge the battery used,thanks again

Yes flash gapps then reboot and yes way past that, you no longer have any way to get back to stock without an SBF but that's a discussion for another day

I'll cross the SBF bridge if/when I come to it. If all goes well, it'll never be needed.

I should get all the contacts etc back when I re-synch with google, right?

Yes as soon as you do the initial sign in on gmail they should sync
