    Uneven Backlighting?

It has been said that the four menu keys below the screen seem to have uneven backlighting. On one Droid, the home key was darker than the rest. On a replacement Droid, the menu key is a little darker. On another Droid the menu and search keys are brighter than the other two. Has anyone else noticed this trend in some fashion?

No can't say I have experienced that one. I do have a friend in Florida who says his keys went out completely. I wonder if this could be a pre cursor to that problem. Although I did not see it for myself.

    Hi Josh,

If you wouldn't mind looking in the dark, do you notice any being brighter than the others?

    Thanks.

Yep, that's just how backlighting works, on the cheap. I'd guess they use a single LED (saves power) to backlight all the buttons, and light pipes to guide the light. If it is not lined up exactly the same for each, it will be a bit uneven.

Thanks for your response Mrschmitz. Do you have this "issue" on your Droid?

    Thanks

Sure, a little bit. I don't consider it an "issue" though. (quotes agreed) I would think most people would notice a bit of difference, unless you are lucky.

well looked at it under my desk and I don't see any difference. If anything I see more of a difference in the lighting on the physical key board, but thats it.

    Thanks again for your response.

My physical keyboard is ok, and over the last few days, my lights on the front (for some reason) have become brighter and more even. I think on all of them there is a little difference because of the setup (two LEDs on each side).

My home key is definately dimmer than the other 3, but not enough for me to make a big stink over it.
