my home key is little dim, my keyboard is fine. My sons home key and menu key are a little dimmer, his keyboard is fine. All my wife's keys are nice and bright and so is her keyboard. The differences are miniscule.
Not trying to be an asshole, but LEDs don't use any power. I don't mean hardly an. I mean an amount so small it's immeasurable. If you rig up a circuit with a battery, an LED and nothing else, you've got yourself a short. There is no difference between using one LED and using four.
That being said, LEDs do cost money. Not much, but not free. You're probably right. There is probably a single LED lighting all four keys, but if that's the case, it's due to manufacturing costs, not power concerns. This does make me wonder how the keyboard is lit. My four keys are a bit unevenly lit, but my keyboard is completely uniform.
Yeah, you're probably right. LEDs do take a little power, but not enough to matter in this case. My first thought was power savings but cost savings makes more sense. If I look at mine with a dark image on the screen, I can see two brighter areas in between the back/menu and home/search buttons that indicate two LEDs to light the four buttons.
No problems here... it all lights up fine.
My Search key is slightly darker then the rest.
each of the "buttons" are individually lit, hence why there is some discrepency with how they are illuminated. if they were illuminated by one bulb, they could average out the distance of the buttons and illuminate them each, evenly.
but because there is no room for this type of practice, they each have their own LED.
this is visible in the x-ray pictures that someone posted here before.
