09-19-2010 03:02 AMDecided early on not to root my droid2 because of their being so many different rooting styles and roms and honestly I know that it makes your phone faster and allows to remove unwanted apps. But trying something like that would give me a headache deciding which one to use and what if I had to undo whatever I've just done. That's why I picked this phone so I wouldn't have to modify, other than getting a 32gb memory card.

I just really wonder how much of a difference I'll see in performance and battery life with 2.2 vs 2.1.

09-19-2010 11:03 AMI feel you will notice a difference in your battery life. I was able to see a difference even though I only had the phone for a few days. Operating gmail is easier. Automatic downloads for updating apps. Just an all around smoother feel than 2.1.

I'm not eligible for an upgrade for another 15 months, so this one will have to do. Kind of too bad, though. My mother needs a phone and I hate signing a contract for 2 years just so she can get some crappy second- or third-tier voice phone that doesn't even have Bluetooth. 09-19-2010 04:39 PMi have an incredible and i want to root it, but i still havent found a good reason to. i rooted my droid1 the day the root went public, but i love the incredible (and sense) exactly how it is (except i'd like the optical joystick to wake up the phone)
got eris: 12/24/09
returned eris: 12/28/09
got droid: 12/31/09
rooted droid: sometime in january (right after it was released (manually))
bb->2.1 sbf->desire rom> 2.1bb> 2.2
got incredible as warranty replacement 8/31/10
shattered inc screen 9/25/10-> got insurace replacement 10/4/10
broke inc screen 10/19/10-> got warranty replacement 10/22/10
got moto droid 1 off ebay 1/7/11
broke inc screen 5/26/11-> got insurance replacement inc2 5/27/11
sold inc2 & bought vzw 16gb iphone 4 6/9/11
