I do use it as my default, but change all of the individual apps to my liking. That pretty much leaves Chrome to Phone as the one app that invokes the classic tone.

Absolutely. That notification is a calling card. I can't tell you how many great conversations I've had with fellow Droid users, whether they have the original Droid or otherwise. Some may call it a club, but I prefer the term community. We love our phone because of its capability, not because of what company made it![]()
I liked it best when I shut the phone off or powered up.

I like it too, however the phone is still new to me. It may get old at which time I will replace it.
I would, but when I switched to Cyanogenmod 6RC-1 (and now 2) they deleted it from my phone. :-( I LOVED THAT NOTIFICATION SOUND!!! I want it back.

I found a workaround but it involved Astro and Chrome-to-Phone. I now have my Droooiiid back!
Droid4Life, yo! ;-) Did you miss me, my favorite notification ringtone? I missed you...
Go here, For those that want the "Droid" notification sound - Ben Pike's blog and chrome-to-phone the page link.
Long-press the Droid.ogg link and tell it to Save Link.
Once it's down, go to Astro and navigate to /mnt/sdcard/download and locate Droid.ogg.
Long-press Droid.ogg and select move.
Back out and navigate to /mnt/sdcard/media/audio/notifications and press the menu softkey, select edit, then select paste.
Quit Astro then go to Settings/Sound/Notification Ringtone and viola! there's our missing Droid ringtone, no longer missing. Enjoy!
