Thought about this....I might start keeping these phones as a backup when I upgrade, switch to the 1-yr plans, and not purchase insurance. Then if something happens to a new phone, I just revert back to an older model for a few months until I can upgrade.

Still waiting for that PS3 remote control app, too. Use it at home as a wifi device and DVD controller, and maybe as a mouse/keyboard for browsing the web on PS3, sounds like a productive retirement plan.

other than more horsepower and bigger screens, the newer android phones don't really offer much beyond what the original droid already has. (in my opinion)
i don't play games and i don't foresee myself recording video ever so the original droid will do me just fine. so i won't be upgrading until it's absolutely necessary or upgrading to a bigger/better phone is either free or very cheap.

Keeping it for ever. I want an x but i might hold out for a LTE capable android phone in 2011/2012. I hope that the bootloader on the x gets cracked.

i put keeping it forever, but who knows. Ive had my droid since december, and i have left it stock. for some reason i think i got one of the better phone because i have been pretty rough on it (dropping alot), and my phone still works perfectly. I have never really had any problems, and i use my phone for a **** ton of stuff. so I will be keeping my droid 1 (stock) as long as possible. But this new news about verizon taking out the unlimited data plan might change that. only time will tell.... ooooooooooooo deep like a dancing banana
STRAIGHT UP STOCK <--- NOT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!

Check out these videos using my droid!!!

Agreed, although if the Droid had 512mg of ram then it would be perfectly fine, IMO.

So a blurb from the graphics chip maker that Android will have PS3 quality graphics in 3 years, but I'm not a gamer, either.

I envision my next phone, provided it's LTE, will last me a good number of years. 90% of my use is probably phone (shocking!), email, music and alarm. Basic stuff, I like the navigation and all the news at my finger tips, but I could live without it.

As for the thread topic, in a few months the Droid isn't going to get a whole lot on EBay to justify selling it anyway, IMO.

I want the X, but I'm thinking of waiting for it to get rooted/Rom-able. I'm liking the Galaxy S, if that gets rooted and romable, I may get it :/

EDIT: If the Droid 2 gets a spare of the moment LTE capability, then I'll get it, lol.
