I was one of the FIRST people to get an iPhone.. Waited in line all of 45min in Austin TX...
8... Yes EIGHT iPhones later... I'm ready to give up... I understand it's the 2G... but from what I've heard from many others that have had bad luck, 3G is no different.. I experienced everything from battery to software to overheating to internal antenna broken.. You name it, it's happened to me.
Finally 2 months ago I dropped and broke the screen.. I was going to lie and go for another replacement but decided not too as it would of been too much trouble.. So I'm REALLY looking forward to purchasing and using this phone.. I just hope someone roots this fast.
Adding yet another tick in the Blackberry column. 19 months ago (to the day, according to Verizon) I got my first smart phone, a Blackberry Pearl. For the first few months, it was heaven! And then, messages started disappearing, memory filled up after installing google's apps, deleted half the apps, still losing sms and facebook messages. I learned the art of the 'one-handed battery pull while driving'. Was almost dead set on switching to Sprint for the Pre when I learned about Verizon's deal with Google. That sealed it. Now I'm just waiting for Dec 2 when my NE2 is up, unless I breakdown and call Verizon to see about maybe getting the upgrade early.
Getting rid of that stinky WinMob POS the Q9m (without a data plan). This is the first phone I've felt is worth paying the $30 "smartphone tax" other than the iPhone!
I wanted a smartphone, but for me I wanted WiFi capability.
I wanted an iPhone, but didn't want AT&T service. I was hopeful
when I read that Verizon and Apple were in negotiations for iPhone
on Verizon, but that was off in the future and eventually failed.
I was looking at a BB device, but found out that Verizon disabled
WiFi on them. So, checking with Verizon got the following response:
The following PDA/smartphones have Wi-Fi capability:
1. Samsung Omnia
2. HTC Ozone
3. HTC Touch Pro
4. HTC Touch Diamond
5. Samsung Saga
6. HTC Touch Pro 2
For me, Verizon's network access was too limiting and WiFi was a deal
breaker. The network is only as good as the load on the network and
it seemed silly to be limited to Verizon's network when I had a faster
WiFi network easily available. Try using Verizon's network when there
are 105,000 NCAAF fans nearby on a Saturday afternoon -- your mileage
may vary.
Along comes Droid, so I will check it out on Nov 6.
storm 2 will have wifi and a big screen, if that's all you are after. it will no doubt be easier to get one of those...

I was on a Voyager, then switched to a Dare, and now I'm going to a Droid.
I'm upgrading from a Treo 700p (which isn't an option on the survey BTW). It was an AWESOME phone when I got it.
My New Every Two came up a year ago and I almost got an Omnia - but decided to wait for something with a better screen, camera, and QWERTY keyboard. The Touch Pro 2 came out and I thought I had my phone - except it is NEVER in stock. I almost pulled the trigger on the Imagio last week.
Now this comes out, and I can't even sleep at night.
Must. Have. Droid.
