I'll be upgrading from an old Razr. Would have gotten an iPhone a long time ago if it was on Verizon. Like many, I have a dumb phone/iTouch combo and have long awaited Verizon bringing us a real phone. Looks to me like that day has finally arrived! The support building behind the Android OS cannot be ignored!!

Although with Verizon pushing the droid phones so hard it makes me wonder if they will offer the iPhone next year? The last rumors I heard indicated Verizon will carry the iPhone next year, but now I'm starting to wonder. It would seem akward to bash the iPhone with the new droid commercials and end up selling it down the road..
Maybe they won't need to sell it after the DROID phones become popular and they can give Apple the finger

From everything I hear, verizon does not want to get into a contract with apple. Everything has been stated that apple is worse about locking things down in and around their company worse then verizon does. If verizon does start carrying their phones, i don't think it will be next year... esp with them now going full head on with droid.

Just a rough thing I've picked up from this thread is that most people are switching fron non smart phones. Could this be a sign that if the Droid series is really popular with Verizon they will pick up additional data contract users?
Interesting, it should help their bottom line and their stock?

From what i've been able to tell a lot of people, like myself have either dumb-phones or just regular run of the mill dial the number phones. Reason being is that verizon has yet to offer anything that perks my interests. I was thinking of getting the BB Storm but then i read all the reviews and played with it myself and it just wasn't the phone for me. The storm 2 seems to have gotten great reviews but I still think the droid will beat it out by far, because it's more of a casual user phone compared to the BB side of phones which are aimed more at the business side.
I will most likely pick up the Moto Droid within the first couple days. Seeing as I get 15% off my services from verizon and I don't use up that many minutes it will most likely cost less then my phone I have now.

i'm actually switching from a blackberry.. i was also considering the storm 2. the stuff that bugged some people about the original storm never bothered me, and i figured the inclusion of wifi and better touchscreen would be worth the wait.
until i saw the motorola. sorry bb, i'm switching to motorola (which i said i would never do)

I've also been a huge BB fan but lately I've been having a ton of small problems with them. The tour ball sucks, the interface isn't as zippy as it used to be (ie, delay when sending/receiving texts) -- that didn't happen on older models.
I used to sware by them, but now I guess there's so much bloat

Hmm.. Interesting...
I think the key will be to make sure the droid is a "smart" phone that doesn't require "smarts" to use it, hence the reason the iPhone has been such a success.
I haven't heard from any current WinMobo users? I had a Verizon XV6700 back in the day and it was a huge piece of crap..
Bottom line, all of this is good for Verizon stock, it should cause a surge in contract renewals, and users to switch from AT&T because now they have a better selection of phones to choose from.

Samsung SCHI730, been real happy with it, not so happy about having to pay for the data plan with Droid as Windows Mobile and wifi have served me well on this without the extra monthly charges.

Words can not explain how happy I will be to get rid of my Palm Treo 700w.
