Droid Forums Poll - RAZR or Galaxy Nexus?

I really like what they both have but I dislike Samsung and the battery is not replaceable on the Motorola.
This leaves me not wanting either one of them.

My Samsung hate comes from their terrible support and lack of updates.

Motorola rocks but a phone with a non-removable battery is a deal breaker for me. I live in the boonies I need to be able to swap batteries.

With the Nexus devices updates come straight from Google when they make changes to their OS, not Samsung. You'll have updates to ICS way before anyone else.

Normally I'd agree with you here, but Dusty (post after yours) is correct. You won't have to rely on Samsung for software updates.

True but it is hard to trust them again. Been burned too badly by Samsung in the near past and farther past.
Still a tough decision.

You will have to remake this poll adding the Rezound shortly (hopefully). It'd be nice to have all three in stores to compare and get a hands on. Even though I'm going to go Nexus, I would like to play with the others.

I am enjoying the debate in this thread and the comparison chart about the hardware makes the decision even harder. Of course, it all comes down to personal preference.

I have always had great signal and tough devices thanks to Motorola. However, I am really excited about having a Nexus device, finally having Android OS as it was designed and not some carrier created abomination.

My pros and cons list:

Moto RAZR
+ build quality
+Camera 8MP
+battery life? (combination of larger mAh battery & smaller screen)
+SD Card-external storage

-locked bootlader
-Gingerbread (how long did it take for any moto device to get off of Froyo? Forever.)


Samsung Galaxy Nexus
+Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich & updates
+intrigued by larger resolution of 1290x720 (though I worry about battery)
+/- NFC? To me this will be a bigger player in the future, but now it seems just as useful as LTE.
-storage, no SD card means paying a premium for 32GB model

See, I am still sort of all fired up for the Nexus, but my list is convincing me otherwise. Again, NFC is a big deal if it had some use but I feel like it is so new, like LTE that it won't be available to use everywhere. Maybe 2 years down the road when I can upgrade again, this will be something to look for.

Also, as much as I want Android and not the bloated versions that carriers put on the phones I wonder if that is enough for me to leap towards the Nexus? After all, I have a custom ROM on my DX. Much of what is on ICS is already built in. The only problem with this attitude is how long will it take to get around the bootloader? So, that's a big gamble.

I guess what I am saying is that I want the RAZR to have NFC and vanilla ICS or that I would settle for the Galaxy Nexus if it had a better camera & external storage.
