Maybe there wouldn't have been so much confusion if that sentence made any sense.

So whoever is mad that there are questions, please brush your english skills off.
Ohh, zinged! It's also a good thing I'm not actually mad there are questions.

If we're going to be grammar nazis here, though, how about capitalization nazis too? It's English.

Seriously, though, you raise a good point. I understood it completely because the latter half of the OP quote there made the first part clear to me -- but I'm used to interpreting things. I also thought I tried to clear things up in my post regarding people reading the OP, so my apologies to anyone who was offended that my post sounded a little angry. Have one on me?

I just want to be sure that I do not install the incorrect file. Also, if this makes a difference, I want to remain nonrooted. Thank you in advance!
This install is a cleaner install, so the recommendation is you try this one. It's totally virgin-as-Verizon-pushed-out. So no root for you!

I think you need to install a new keyboard to work under FroYo. I could be wrong, but it's worth a try, no? If you do, please report back so others can see if it did or not.

For what it is worth, I have installed a lot of roms (root and not root) I have not had success with this one (or the previous release). I installed this on my wifes non rooted droid and it like V8 with two or three spark plugs missing. I also did a complete wipe (3x) and installed (3x...technically update) and it still ran poorly.

My 2 cents...if you cant wait for froyo (I can't), root and install a REAL Rom that guys like Pete, Chevy....etc. have put together.

This is getting kind of silly. We will just have to wait until a significant number of people start to get the OTA to really know anything....

I have the FGR22 loaded and it seems to work fine. (although no one seems to know what this build is) I loaded the OTA update before I rooted the phone. It ran ok, but the pandora streaming issue was driving me crazy. I followed the instructions on Androidforums on how to root a 2.2 phone and installed FGR22.

So far the only little issue I notice is that occasionally when you exit an app like the web browser the main screen will be blank for a few seconds and then re-draw. It migt do this once a day. Other than that, it seem to run much better than the 2.1 OS...

I did not wipe data/cache at any point in all of these updates, so that might explaine the occasional screen redraw issue. Once there seems to be an agreement on which build is the best, I will wipe the phone and install a rooted ROM. Until then i'll just enjoy the FRG22 ROM that Pete rooted and deoxed for us....

Excellent points guys! I had to read and re-read the OP a handful of times to make sure I understood what the point was.

I also agree that CaPiTaLiZaTiOn is very important!

For the record, I have never rooted my Droid, but I installed the FRG01B file that was released in the wild last week. I have not noticed any problems at all with the new OS on my phone and it's running very smoothly!

However, I do have the itch to root my phone and will likely go the Easy Root route ("Easy Root route" ...say that 10 times fast!)

This thread (and forum) has been incredibly helpful by the way!

Sorry I wasn't trying to be picky. I just really couldn't figure out exactly what that sentence was trying to say.

I was running FRG22. I downloaded the file Jrummy posted and renamed it to update.zip. I backed up my FRG22 install, copied the new file (already renamed to update.zip) to my SD Card, booted into SPRecovery, installed the zip file and everything ran smoothly. Once booted up it ran slowly while the servers re-synced. All my apps and home screen icons are right where I left them. Over-clock kernel was still installed. Had to go into SetCPU and auto detect speeds, then select 800 mhz on the sliddder scale.

    It was that simple.

I should have tried the OPs file just to see what kind of errors come out. But for those who installed the latest, greatest flavor of frozen yogurt, you too can play with this release. Just use the one JRummy posted.

The opnly reason I installed this downdated update was I had some issues with GPS staying on and running down my battery after I closed an app that used the GPS. I have no issues with GPS staying active now.
