This is a discussion on 2.1 ESE53 will be Official Release on the VZW Motorola Droid within the Droid News forums, part of the Droid News & Site News category; Originally Posted by scoder Deployment schedule expect more things like this from me Only 1,000 at first, huh? They were probably high-fiving and laughing about the grammar in that first line :-P (my a douche? huh?)
As for all the people commenting on "why did it take so long for an update" - they need to understand that the hackers are a very small percentage of the over a million droid owners out there. Plenty of people just want their phone to work without issue. If 1,000,000+ phones suddenly started crashing, there would be lines around the block at Verizon stores, and stocks would plummet. But when a custom rom causes problems, all that happens is people post on a forum and try out a different one. Rom hackers can try all kinds of new things without needing to spend months testing.
Somebody mentioned "class-action lawsuit", and that is a distinct possibility. If somebody on an internet posts a rom update that erases all of your data when it installs, nobody thinks twice. But if Verizon does an over-the-air update that does that, they will be on the front page of the news. Better to be safe than sorry, and I commend VZ for not rushing it out to keep up with the Nexus.
Cool CM Tricks
custom_backup_list.txt - make a list of files in /system that will survive a nightly install (ringtones, notifications, system apps, wallpapers, whatever)
in Terminal Emulator, set this as your shell command: "/system/xbin/su -c /system/xbin/bash". You get all the features of bash, root access, and you can still use the initial command field for whatever you want (default is adding /data/local/bin to your path)
Its actually pretty clear if you zoom or read it from your droid. If you need a better pic let me know. And I just saw the incredible in person. Goodbye motorola for me maybe[/QUOTE]
What did you see????
Here we go again..lol. Now watch Verizon pull this off their site, like Motorola did..... Then this thread goes to 200 pages until it gets locked...lol Hope not.
What I wanted from this update was smoother working, swipe from pic to pic(I had the 3d gallery downloaded but it was so slow and glitchy, I removed it), more home screens(every home replacement has glitches) and a flash-player.. So it looks like this update isn't going to leave me still wanting..![]()
Wondering if iphone jailbreaker and nonjailbreakers squabble like we do?
So Verizon has updated their "System Update Instructions" link and the second picture on the right has the ESE53 but it is only 14.8 megs.
That must be huge compression going on for a new ROM
Its got a beautiful screen, you can't even tell that its got an underclocked snapdragon too. The only thing I didn't like was the blood red under the back casing.
