2.1 ESE53 will be Official Release on the VZW Motorola Droid

Personally its quite annoying to read this and everyone has to tell everyone how they don't care they are rooted, cool. Some people just want to hear about the update not which rom all you rooted guys are using. I guess I just am sick of all the rooted users knocking an exciting time. Can't wait for the update.

Yes there are a lot of fellow Droidians here who don't have or take the time to hack their phones. If you have a rooted phone running any of the 2.1 ROMS out there, I don't see a need to comment in threads like this.

The update is a page long you could always read that over and over but if you read about how much customizing there is it's exciting...really can't say that for the verizon release of 2.1 now can we it just sounds boring, no disrespect to you.

Wish it had Flash support. I may root it after trying the stock for a while.

It does support Flash. It just doesn't ship with it. Blame Adobe.

So I guess not even the official devs could get the 3D app tray working. Thats a shame. I was hoping that if we could get some ROMS based of the real OTA then the 3D tray would work better. I guess I shouldnt complain at least they gave us a date.

I've got an unrooted Droid, and I really love my phone. I hope I love it just as well after the upgrade (don't think it could get any better than it is now). Sounds good, and we've waited long enough... And then there's whatever replaces this first Droid, because I don't think (other than minor fixes) we're going to get any further major feature upgrades until the new Droid comes out. For a whole new one; I'm praying for a slightly thinner device, without a hardware keyboard, and with an external microSD slot. Dare to dream!

Hard to say, there are reports of Froyo test builds being compiled and tested on the Droid.

I am happy for this update! The rooted people should be happy too! This may have some repairs and give everyone's phone more stability! I kinda agree, if you aren't going to upgrade, than why post here. But on the otherhand, it should be a joyous occasion! Everyone stop fighting! Can't we all just get along?

I'm rooted and I'm HAPPY for this upgrade. The people who are rooted and saying they don't care are just obnoxious and they only rooted their phones to brag about it to other people. This upgrade will benefit everyone.

And what's with the whining about the extra homescreens? Just because it's not mentioned in that PDF it doesn't mean it's not in, besides... there's an app in the market right now that has the extra buttons on the bottom plus the ability to add more screens, everything except the useless 3D launcher. Stop whining.

Quick question has anybody actually got the 2.1 update yet (the official 2.1)

Will not begin rolling out until the 18th around 12:00pm est.

If you run 2.1 on an AVD in the emulator, you still get the 3 screen launcher, but live wallpapers are available. The Nexus launcher must have been made just for that phone, and not part of 2.1
