its OLDDD. If you want speed try the new bugless beast v1 rom.
You got to try different ROMs out, and more importantly different Kernels so you can overclock to a nice speed, and even tether and such. Lots of ROMs I found to be very fast. Are you overclocking on others?
Droidmod was cool because it made rooting so easy. I guess that was really DMupdater not Droidmod. In anycase an update would be nice, specifically one that would work with 2.1, but it seems that they don't want anything to do with 2.1. I'll. Probably never root my phone again unless they come up with something.

Your question was why is there no recent threads or people talking about DM. The correct answer was given, it's old, the developers aren't updating it, and there are much better ROM's out there. If you do some checking around, there are some great ROM's out there to try, they're easy to change around too. I tried 3 different ROM's this weekend alone. Right now I'm using Redrum Chaos 1.3 with the Black Ice theme. It's not slow for me at all. Check them out.
Yes they are worse on updating than Verizon was with the 2,1 OTA. That is basically the "root" of their problem now. I used them to originally root the phone and the ROM is still quite good. However, I took the opportunity to try some other ROM offerings, and do not regret it at all. When they finally offer their new Project Durden, I will try it too. The Project Durden will likely make or break them. They have promised "certified liquified awesome" (or somesuch). If they don't deliver pretty soon, they may be done. I imagine the posts will shoot up when they finally release the new ROM.
Don't worry. They are working on something "BIG". You have to give it to them. From the start they were "spectacular" and now have fallen quite a bit. They have a great team and release good stuff that is HIGHLY tested and not just thrown together and pushed out. I to will try them out with their "project durden". I am sure it will come soon, like after the google I/O conference
