    Need help please....

    I tried to root my MD earlier by following the steps I found online and after the reboot when I tried to install the update.zip file the installation aborted claiming file could not be found. Is this something I did wrong. If so, what is the the easiest way to root the Droid?

    Did you receive and install VZW's latest update to 2.1?

    If so go here (http://www.droidforums.net/forum/res...d-2-1-ota.html). If not what process did you use to root?

    Root Your Droid is a very informative site on how to root your droid if you are still on 2.0.1. There are easier ways but I chose to do this as I learned a few things while rooting my droid.

    Yes, I have installed the update. My firmware version is 2.1-update1. I will try both suggestions and hopefully it will work.

    Yeah, you are going to have to flash the sbf file to bring you back to 2.01, unfortunately, there's no root hack for 2.1 yet. If you get any errors when doing the flash, don't panic. I have done a few flashes to change my motorola screen and received errors, just let your phone update and go.

    Good info in this thread as I'm having the same problem. 2.1 is, well, dissappointing after running DM for so long.
