I thought Id be blocked from getting this notice running rooted w/dm. Anyone else get it? I'm guessing running the update will cause root to be lost, so I should ignore it?

There is a previous thread on this today, with a possible fix. Do a search for
Drodmod and 2.1 or try this link:
Droidmod and 2.1 ota update.
Thanks, Jasmo (and "hi!" btw).
I read the thread and saw the link to the OTA block, but am not 100% sure what this means:
I'm only running DroidMod, so I don't really follow what the process is to install the updated file. What exactly do I do after downloading the file? Just open it with Astro?Download this Rom.tgz and install it as you would the normal Smoked Glass ROM (or Droid Customizer, or Smoked Glass Boots).
If it's an update.zip file, use recovery mode, and install update.zip from sd card. It has to be named exactly that: update.zip - or if its the .tar file, then in recovery mode, pick install, choose ROM from sd card, then select the .tar file. Or .tgz file - it will unpack the file for you if its in .tgz format.

do i rename it while it's on the sd card, or on my computer, before i put it on the sd card. once it unpacks, is there anything else i have to do?
You actually don't need to do any of the above. Just choose to install the update, then your phone will reboot into recovery, and then you'll have the option to reboot again. Choose that and then your phone will reboot like normal with Droidmod and nothing will have changed.
Evidently Droidmod doesn't block the download, just the actual installation. But the thing is, you have to initiate the install in order for it to block the installation. Sounds odd, but it's true.
+2.... say yes.. it fails and goes into recovery, reboot... done
Anyone know if the dm guys are working on an updater built off of/for the 2.1 update?
