It's perfect as is, what would they need to update?

It's far from perfect. That being sad it may be the best one out their. It's too hot though if they could get it to run cooler than it may be perfect.

Well last night I gave in and rooted and now have Droidmod. I had to reboot twice (pulled the battery once) before everything settled. Now it's working perfectly (overclocked to 800mhz) but I think I might explore some of the other roms available. Just the Youtube hq hack alone is worth it IMO. I'll only unroot for the official 2.1 if it can't be rooted or is taking too long. My guess is they'll root it and come out with an update.zip for the official.

That's not too bad, but myself hitting that, and upwards of 115-120 fairly easily with moderate to slightly heavy use over the past few months, I'm not so sure how much I want to OC when the heat of summer hits.

I really like this ROM but is there any updates coming out, I see all these other ROM's and I am afraid of downlowding them and not be able to get back to this one, also I covered a friend of mines phone back to the 2.0.1 and search all over for the file to be able to get his voice command back again, I ended up having to do the pre-install and that was the only was I could get it to work..

I agree with the concerns of summer and the heat from overclocking. Used my droid in the car dock this weekend and with the sun beating down on it I was worried it would get fried. I'm at 1Ghz now but come some warmer weather I'll be sure to drop it down to 800.

The only hiccup I've had was with the Google Maps update fc'ing and the Sholes/DM team got my maps working again extremely quickly.

DM1.0 has been great for me, I love the speed, love the features, love the stability. Nothing's perfect, but at least on my Droid this has been an excellent ROM.

If OTA 2.1 had come out before Updater, I'd probably have loaded that and be running that now and wishing I had modded instead. I had decided the first of either OTA 2.1 or an easy-to-install ROM would be the winner for me. I'm glad Sholes/DM Updater was the winner and I'm staying with them now, permanently.
Agree 100% but if I'd never of tried the dm1 and gone with 2.1 then I'd never know what I was missing. So in a way glad 2.1 stalled so much because the droidmod is the way to go and was super easy and well worth it.

I am a fan of droidmod, it is an easy and solid rom to help people get their feet wet into modding their device. I like how I can install other roms with it as well. I installed black droid ultimate droid 5.0 and I was impressed at the speed and how smooth it ran. I switched back to droid mod so I could keep my 2.1 sensu ui launcher and call/app screen. I am waiting for droidmod to make a 2.1 based rom.

My droid got way to hot. I loved everything about the root, dont really know how to put different roms on there, but man the phone was in my pocket and not doing anything and it just kept getting hotter and hotter. Eventually I couldnt unlock it and I did a battery pull and restart. That worked...I had to unroot just for the safety of the phone...I do really like the root but Im too scared that Ill melt my phone.

I also have droid mod and ive been loving it the past couple days and getting used to it. But i want to try some new themes/ROMs. Are there ones i can simply put onto sdcard and then install/start running them or do i have to go through a whole new process of taking droidmod off and new on?
