I figure I'll just go through the flashing process again; any idea why it would do this after I had already checked it the first time?
If you are running stock 2.2, flash sprecovery, and then reboot again WITHOUT installing Motocache's root .zip file, the "FRS" kicks in and restores stock recovery - which is the triangle with the exclamation point. You have to install that .zip file immediately after you flash sprecovery, before you reboot.

So, in your case, you'll want to flash sprecovery again, immediately boot into sprecovery from the bootloader, install his .zip for root, then install the .zip for your kernel, THEN reboot and you should be good to go.

i have read through your fei, and faq. i have selected all the correct settings i have uninstalled and replaced the update.zip file (via drag and drop cant understand the adb yet) several times. please help --jp
I'm having the same issues as this guy. I'm certain that the file is named update.zip. I have noticed that when I go to the mount options and try to mount and then unmount, it won't let me mount. Not sure what's up.
what i had to do was format the sdcard, remove the sdcard a, replace th sdcard, then add the file to the card, then flash... hopefully that will help.

    Okay, I got a question...

I was in the VZW Store today, because I'm not sending or receiving picture messages
(They seam to just hang on my side & I just don't see them from others. The sending phone doesn't get any notice of the message failing)
Text messages work fine, just picture messages...

Now, because I'm running SS4.7 the tech said I'll have to do a factory reset & start over to fix the picture mail issue.
They "checked the switches" and what-not & say it's my phone.

    So, the question is,...
After I write down all the apps I'll need to hunt-down & wipe my phone,...
Will it be like an "out of the box" Droid? Meaning will I have to root before I can go back to my ROM
And, is there anything I should be cautious of before, during, & after I reset?

Kind of off the topic of this thread but, you shouldn't have to write down all your apps and such because on 2.2 they will all be restored automatically with your contacts. You will have to reset your custom ringers, etc. It will not be like out of the box, but a factory data reset has cured some problems for me as well. If you have SPRecovery as your custom recovery image, when you do the reset via the phone's regular menu, when it's done it will boot into SPRecovery. SO:

What I would do is boot into recovery (SPR) and make a regular nandroid backup, then reboot your phone normally, do the factory data reset via the phone's menu. When it boots into SPRecovery, restore that backup and see what happens. You won't lose root.

    that's a start, good luck

It won't restore apps I've installed threw APKtor and the likes...
So you're saying after a factory reset install the full back-up?
Won't that just replace whatever was causing the problems?

I was noticing issues with ss 4.7. So what I did was make a back up of my apps using Chevy's built in backup restore tools. This backed up everything. I went into sprecovery and did several wipes and factory resets. I then reinstalled ss 4.7. Once I got booted up, I bypassed the Gmail setup and did a restore using Chevy tools. Everything is now working fine again.

Thanks; I should have read the part at the very beginning of the first post where Moto said that would happen if we didn't flash the .zip for root. I like to charge headlong into things; at least I know enough to do backups...

To be fair, you could have flashed a custom ROM instead of Moto's .zip. If you were charging TOO headlong you would have done that instead.

    You were lucky.

NOTE: after you have messed with the phone (rooting, kernal, themes) you are no longer stock. Verizon can cut you off.

So you say you were using ss 4.7 huh? You are rooted and should not walk in asking for a fix.

The Verizon store only deals with stock issues. If you do not understand this, you should not be rooting and applying kernals and such.
