After the root steps and the following boot loop, I installed the latest FRG22B stock rooted ROM from P3Droid. Both of the ROMs I have used on this phone were from stock OTA source, stock kernels, with root added. I've had the boot loop issue on my phone before, but a ROM reinstall fixed it, I guess this phone was too far gone for that.
Moto - When I install the sbf (Steps 1-13), after it installs SPRecovery, it should leave the phone rooted since I am already, correct? I assume that from that point I can do a nandroid backup if I so desire before doing anything else.
Also, my su is v188.8.131.52 (su v2.3-ef, Database version 5). Do I need an updated version of it, or is this one adequate?
Edit: Never mind the su question; I looked at your signature link again and downloaded it. Duh...
I want to add my Thanks Moto for a great set of instructions. Like others, I had cold feet. Now, I would never want another Droid without root access, and you made it so easy.
I do have one question that I can not see has come up in the string. FGR22D has a bug in it's email.apk that requires you to use a four digit pin for Corporate Exchange Accounts even if the Exchange server does not enforce that option in their policy. It is quit annoying to have to put a pin in every time you swipe the screen (especially when it's not required). FGR01B did not have the problem.
How do you get back to FGR01B while keeping root, if I followed your procedure to gain root access.
here - source: this thread), flash it through sprecovery as update.zip, then flash Motocache's root .zip file as update.zip. Basically, go through the same process to root as you did with FRG22D, but this time after you have FRG01B installed. Since you're going back a step with regard to OS, it might not hurt to wipe before you do it, as well.
Once you've got it up and running, you'll likely get the notification for FRG22D. Just choose to reboot and install it, and SPRecovery will block the install. Theoretically, you shouldn't receive the notification again.
ok umm i followed the directions on how to root my droid now forsome reason i turn it on an it just goes to my homescreesns but my RED led light comes on an it says i have no battery life an no service.
