question: is this a custom rom, or simply 2.2 cracked for superuser access ?
in looking for a theme, ppl have suggested custom roms, but i just want to find one i can add-in or if i can make the modifications in terminal myself to get the effects i want ...

This is a rooting method, nothing more. All you get is whatever you were running before you did this, but rooted, with superuser access and a custom recovery image so you can flash themes, kernels, and ROMs onto your phone.

Sorry guys but I didn't get a chance to get caught up on this topic today. I need to get some sleep tonight to be functional for work in 5.5 hours, but I'll check things out tomorrow and post replies to anything that is still pending a resolution.

    rooted frg22d moto droid 2.2

    nice

motocache - well done - rooted moto droid one, running 2.2 w/ recent frg22d update, with your method - just need to follow instructions very carefully and its no problem - regained tether root aps without easyroot - everyone should use this and root - all videos play much better even on 3G - now onto kernels...... - seems risky, but there is enough information out there

    thanks

    Still Stuck?

Any ideas what to do? Should I just reformat?
I read through the posts and it does not seem you got an answer. Are you good now or still stuck? Are your problems simply from trying to root your phone using Motocache's instructions?

Working on some updates to the FAQ (before digging in and catching up on any user-specific issues) and need a few more graphics in the OP - but the OP is at the max of 5, so I'm attaching them here. Kinda kludgy, but it keeps them all on the site (vs. hosted elsewhere).

New questions 8 and 9 added to the Frequently Asked Questions section at the bottom of the OP.

    8. How can I tell if my phone is rooted?

    9. My Superuser application icon looks like it's an old version. How do I get the one that's a Ninja?
I should be digging in shortly to any user-specific issues that have not been able to be resolved by the Rescue Squad guys or other "lab dwellers" who may have attempted to assist. Although counter-intuitive, I will be working from newest (current "last page" back to where I left off -- page 40) so that I don't waste any time trying to solve an issue only to find out on a later page it has already been resolved.

new to site and first time poster.

I am using the steps to root my droid 1 with FRG22D.

I have gone through some of the steps already, problem is...the 32 and 64 bit motorola drivers link in the OP directs me back to this thread.

I started to root and entered bootloader mode in the procedure and my laptop gave me error message that I do not have the drivers for this device. I am running windows 7.

Where can I get the correct drivers for this device so I can go through the root.

    Thank you
