Sorry for the vagueness of it, but I meant the zip file that by some account does the ota update of 2.1 to 2.2 FRG22D w/o going through 2.2 FRG01.
Thank you Motocache! I waited till I got the OTA (FRG22D) before I rooted for the first time. I finally got it yesterday and successfully rooted.
I initially had problems because I didn't install the driver. Since I was using PDAnet before, I thought I already had drivers. Went back and installed your driver and it all worked great.
I don't like the one click root either. I rather know what I'm doing. This kinda reminds me of the old DirecTV H-card days! The feeling of satisfaction from successfully rooting is the same as programming my old H-card and plugging it in and seeing all channels show up!
Thanks for your hard work!
The ese81 to frg22d does exist. Just saw the thread earlier, damned if I can find it now.
EDIT: found it: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...tml#post798640
Another big Thank you to Motocache and everyone else that helps out here. This thread pushed me over the edge to finally root ! .. .. Again , Thanks ..
So what should I do next ? Things I would like to do are , 1. Back up my phone ,, 2. overclock ,, 3. tether ,, 4 . Try a Rom with all this built in..hmmmm.. I have so much to learn still .... Can someone point me in the right direction ? ..
This should help:
It's a list of all the things you'd like to know about your phone

Son: Motorola Droid 4 - Rooted
Daughter: Motorola Droid Bionic - Rooted
Spare Rooted Phones: LG Vortex & 3 Droid 1s
There's also a thread by furbearingmammal about what to do after you root! Use the search with his name!
I'm sitting here at work and just did the whole process in under 15 minutes. Flawless. Thanks dude, you are a genius for us newb's that are hesitant about messing with stuff.
