i need help ... since i rooted with this method ive been experiencing hangs and restarts when i powerup my phone. it doesnt happen all the time. but when it does i usually have to pull the battery and cross my fingers on restart.

the services i show as running:
    paypal
setcpu (varios profiles tried, all recommended values)
    silent mode widget
    wallswitch
    google messaging service
    greek keyboard

i also have apps that autostart:
    weatherbug elite (5 widgets)
    anyrrs reader (2 widgets)
    gpstracker (instamapper component)
    wallswitch
    setcpu

can anyone pls help out ? it might be an app but it might be android. cant be sure, unless i do a trial and uninstall apps one by one. maybe ill have better exp/perf by loading up a completely new rom ? im willing to give it a shot, but prefer straight vanilla froyo or gingerbread.

assuming the stock rooted froyo i am running is not buggy. i updated the phone to 2.2 via a manual update.zip process when 2.2 became available here on this forum.

bgm-alchemy - Did you install SPRecovery after rooting, or any other custom recovery? If not, that's probably why the update broke root on your phone. SPRecovery (and probably ClockworkMod; I don't use that one yet) should block OTA's once you have root. From this point you can use this thread at the beginning and re-flash a rooted FRG22D, and if you want the rooted FRG83D, use one of the releases after that.

You knew the risks and now you want them to pay?

Sprecovery would have allowed you to block this update.

    Sent from my rooted A855.

Agreed. I flashed SPrecovery back in July and have not been prompted for any update since. With the exception of Chevy's SS updates. Those are really handy.

After re-reading MotoCache1's first post at the start of this thread, it "should" root the latest OTA if you download it. Moto's process installs BusyBox, superuser, and the files necessary for root, and then flashes a custom recovery image (SPRecovery). If you're rooted and don't want to repeat this process with every OTA update I suggest you install a custom recovery to block it.

The only caveat to this would be if the latest update changes the recovery back to stock, but so far I haven't heard of it anywhere with this update. Most of these issues seem to occur with the "one-click" rooting methods. While those methods do work to root your phone, they leave you pretty much dead in the water for the next update if you don't know how to block it.

    Update.

Someone has posted in another thread that this method DOES work for rooting 2.2.1 (frg83d).
