    Contacts taking up 90 megs??

ok , i'm starting this because my friends incredible is giving him a huge problem. his battery is dying within an hour.. even on standby with the screen off. he is getting low storage notifications. he has tons of gigs of space free. when he goes into the app manager everything looks normal but for some reason contacts is takin up 80mb? he has like 20 contacts max. is that normal? I see people had similar problems with facebook or google earth.. this doesn't seem to be the case here. any input would be helpful.. thanks guys.

I don't know much about the incredible, but you might want to go phone settings > applications, find Contacts storage and delete it's cache/data

If his battery is dying within an hour, there is another more prevalent problem out there. Yes the contacts can get big, but his doesn't seem abnormally large yet. There have been some reporting 455mb plus with Facebook and Twitter contacts all syncing in. If it literally is dying within an hour, it needs to go back to the Verizon store to be looked at, in my opinion.

Battery dying in an hour is really quick. It's possible that there's a sync error. Sync may be running wildly and hitting the network hard. That would wear down the battery pretty quickly.

Can you config it to not bring in facebook/twitter contacts? Keep it to a minimum if possible...like only gmail. Delete Contact storage and hope that it syncs properly.

Those are good pieces of advice. I would also recommend deleting all accounts and starting off fresh. May be some info put in wrong or maybe just looping in the system. Give that a shot, too. An hour, there is definitely an error.

    Tip

Do not have problem but I have read elsewhere that deleting everything out of your email accts. trash folder(s) helps with this problem.

Wow guys thanks for all the great advice. He actually called me this morning and told me the phone is totally dead.. won't even turn on or charge now.. I'm thinking maybe some sort of virus? I think that's what VZW is trying to tell him anyway. either way, appreciate all the response..

I virus, huh? I'd like to know more about this virus. Android supposedly doesn't have any known viruses. If there is one now, it's a pretty big story.

if your contacts is really big, tell him to move his MMS videos and pics to SD.

I doubt it's a virus. Honestly sounds more like a hardware failure to me. The only virus that has been remotely reported is some live wallpaper downloads that are grabbing personal information. Nothing about viruses actually shutting phones down.
