Hi from a new member

I am a new owner (about two weeks) of a droid htc. Like my experience thus far except for a few hiccups.
When mute is off and speaker is on and I make a phone call, the person at the other end can here me, but I am not able to hear them.
With both mute and speaker off, the audio does not work at either end.
I am at a campsite in Minnesota and so cannot walk into a verizon store to get this corrected.
The phone was working fine until about 2 days ago.
